I started the fred to show the types of stuff we do to our landies :)

for all those who pay others to work on them fair enough but start your own fred. :p

Tailgate won't open - glass drops fine on the switch/fob, no sound of the relay clicking when I press the handle so suspect its the handle microswitch.

Stage 1 complete, managed to get the tailgate door card off from standing outside and working through the open tailgate window.... got to the screws ok but the angle of the end one (lock side) was a doozy...used a stubby screwdriver with a rubbery handle and an adjustable to start it off ...might leave this one off when I put it back together.

Stage 2 will be an inside job though - to get the handle off :)

Today I mostly fixed my 3 Amigos with intermittant brake warning light fault, without a scanner:p turns out it was failing high resistance wise, measured it a few times, and it seemed ok, also on spinning the wheel I was getting good ac voltage .5v to 4v ac.... Today when I checked it, it was fooked, Changed it today for another eBay special £13 and all is well so far.....never had one give me the brake warning light as well.....

Also changed the engine oil and filter with Shell Helix 5w/40.

2 jobs down 3 to go:thumbup:

Put 12v on the door lock motor it will pop open then.....I had to do the same but did not have to remove handle:thumbup:

It wasn't the micro switch either with mine

Hey Guys new to the forum,

So far this week I have changed out the Vac hoses for silicone ones, checked the fuel pressure sensor (that was interesting to get to) tried to start the mods to the rear lighting as the original set up is the most backward idea i have seen in a while. (basically after doing a swap around), and when my new turbo solenoid arrives I can get that changed and get the kick back in my TD4. Next on the list will either be a remap to balance out the injectors (as I have been doing a little reading regarding the occasional blue smoke). So that is my list for the next few weeks before the road trip to Brussels. So any other advice on what to look out for would be gladly received as defenders I am ok with freelanders I am getting a hang of.

Thanks in advance Chaps.

Not today but yesterday changed, air filter, crankcase filter, fuel filter (the one in the rear wheel arch) and the turbo vent filter, will give it a run today to see if it makes any difference

Out of the above items , it was the fuel filter change that I noticed a bit more response !

Heard my L series running for the first time in 5 weeks after doing the headgasket. It took a little while longer than planned. Just a few more little jobs to do on it and should be back on the road soon. Then can get my commercial ready for selling :)
