New rules state its meant to have the same number and type of components as it originally had

Not sure this is the case - the new rules that came in Feb 1st this year specifically relate to DPF filters (i.e. if they were fitted as standard, must be present for the test). A missing CAT is only a reason for failure if the car would be subject to a CAT emissions test (i.e. petrol after '92). From the MOT testers manual, there are 5 potential reasons for exhausts to fail the MOT:

1. An exhaust system not adequately supported.

2. A major leak of exhaust gases from any part of the system.

3. A catalytic converter missing where one was fitted as standard

4. A silencer in such condition, or of such a type, that the noise emitted from the vehicle is clearly unreasonably above the level expected from a similar vehicle with a standard silencer in average condition.

5. An exhaust tailpipe positioned so that fumes are likely to enter the driver’s or passenger area.

What amazes me is that all the do-gooders are using these floods as another global warming thing, saying how we should get rid of polluting cars like 4x4's... Yet the only things that can get around in water like that are 4x4's

Catch 22 there my friend.

Climate change occurs naturally, however theres strong evidence now to show it's being accelerated by humans and our modern way of life. Without heavy industry, air travel, internal combustion engines and other forms of fossil fuel burning we might not have seen climate change to any major degree during the human lifetime.

Whilst it would be hard to blame any one factor, we all do our part.

Today fitted 3 replacement window regulator cable kits - tailgate, o/s/r door, n/s/f door. Tailgate kit was complete but tensioner failed and had to be bodged, o/s/r door kit had the wrong pulley wheel to had to re-use the old one, o/s/f door was ok. Horrible jobs to do but now I have got the knack, next time it will be easier. However next time will probably spend the extra and buy whole new regulators.

Bled out clutch after fitting new master cylinder during the week and fitted replacement spare wheel carrier to back door after old one got cracked after wheel but got stuck & had to be hammered out.

had stoped it leaking a few weeks ago so i thought but clearly it was dripping in as the carpet was damp and not wet

Not today, but recently used a bit of pipe insulation to keep the hose that runs from the intercooler away from the screw on the inlet trunking that can wear through it, you know the one;)

I'm amazed at what can fit in the locking boot compartment!

The winch has been as in a box in my garage so decided to find a way to carry it with me.
