What have you done to your Freelander today

Does the Renault stat make much difference? I've noticed my temp gauge getting quite erratic recently, coupled with my pathetic mpg (down to 22 ish during mixed driving, have never ever had more than 30)

How come your mpg is so low, I get between 35 & 40mpg.

Not a clue, I do a fair few short journeys but also a few decent ones for work n what not...
If you recall when we went to the Dales, you used barely a 1/4 tank, where as I used about 3/4! The extra 80-90 miles I did there & back over you shouldn't equate to nearly half a tank!
 
Tightened up the nut for the wiper arm today and that cured that...


My mpg increased by fitting the stat so yes, I think it does make a difference. Biggest difference was 4 reconned and balanced injectors, but you know that.

I'm getting 40mpg with winter fuel and cold weather.

Yes but a V6 is a V6 and a TD4 just isn't lol, I have a thing for 6cyl engines, altho they've usually been a straight 6!

Nodge, Only facelift 3dr i've seen for sale today has been a 54 plate Sport Premium, and I'd end up changing so much there'd be nowt to call a Sport anymore, not that there's much sporty in the first place

The noise signature of the V6 is very different to that of a straight 6!!.
The V6 has that lovely off beat burble at low revs, a straight just sounds like a fast revving 4 pot.
There ain't much Sport in a Freelander tbh but with the V6 it's makes the right noise ;)
 
Just back from my garage. First things to replace in new year
-Prop support bearing x2
-Lower engine tie rod
-Upper engine tie rod
-Both rear drive shafts
-Center differential bush

So...happy new year :bounce:
 
Picked up 2 switches for my heated seat retro fit.

Took a while to find the connectors.... Green for the passenger side and black for the drivers side.

Plugged them in, ignition on and hey presto heated bottom!!! For some reason fuse 29 was already present..

Then topped up the rear diff oil

Hope it's cold tomorrow........ The fbh will be on and the heated seats....... Toasty.

Found some led spotlights that will fit perfectly into my light pods so might have to get those when the pay packet arrives!!!

Finally fitted a new bulb in my hazard button. It was £6.50 after my trade discount. Probably cheaper to buy a new bloody switch.

It was a tiny tiny bulb too
 
Fitted a renault 5 thermostat in the top hose, harder to get in the hose than I expected but got there in the end after dipping the hose in a pan of boiling water my fingers are sore now:)

Seems to be working OK now the temp gauge is now getting to half way, was only reaching quarter way before I'm hoping fuel economy will improve a bit now.

Went in pretty easily.
While I was there I checked to see if the previous owner had fitted the BMW cyclone breather/separator but they haven't, so that will be my next purchase.

New battery went on a few days ago

Not sure what the standard spec battery is but this is a 760cca & the Td4 springs to life easily even when freezing cold.

I have done about 280 miles on just over 3/4 tank indicated. Lots of very short journeys approx. 1/2 mile Sone of them going between customers. Though some were so close to each other, I was able to walk! Saved trying to find somewhere to park in South London.

At a guess that will be around 25-28mpg. All in 20 & 30mpg speed limits. Thank goodness I have an auto. Streatham was a black hole yesterday.

I can't really complain about the fuel economy.

I do like the TD4 filter. I wish the V6 filter was nice and large. The standard V6 jobby is a tiny little thing :(

See I get slightly worse than that, but isn't all short journeys, and you have an auto :wtf:
