Fitted replacement R380 with higher 5th and LT230 with ATB. Both working well, especially in the ice and snow in Northern Sweden. The main bearing was shot on the old box so it was time to sort things…. If you get a ticking noise from the gear box in 5th which is quieter in 4th, then you main shaft bearing may look like mine did..

Drove it again today to collect 10 bales of shavings for the horses.

Best bit was the attendant says I must be using a lot of shavings as it’s the second time this week he has seen the motor..

Now found out the mrs has been using it during my week away and enjoying using it to collect stuff for others.
At least it’s been used

I realised that I’d managed to stain and varnished over a waxed finish on the deck I did in the back. Looks like I’m going to need a lot of white spirit and a lot of sand paper next week ! Annoying as was really happy with how it was looking. Oooooops.

Would a polish mop fix the look?

I’ve got a chronically leaking rear sunroof (which someone bodged in in the past. It needs replacing really as the water is pouring in. Just come across this which I also think will be amazing for the summer. Anyone seen one in action?

I thought it was about time I posted here since my introductory post last year:

I have done the obvious stuff - check/replace/top-up fluids etc. I have swapped out the front centre seat for a cubby box, added Exmoor Trim front seat covers, replaced the front carpet with some cheap and cheerful new carpet, and added some easy access battery terminals so I can plug in a solar panel when the 90 is down at the storage yard.

This weekend I have:
Greased the remaining UJs that I hadn't managed to get to.
Fitted a new idler pulley as it was embarassingly loud and probably about to seize.
I have removed the radio as it was crap, and I couldn't hear it anyway. I am going to replace the now empty console with a new blank one from MUD, as I want to add some switches and dials in due course.
I have worked out how I can fit a kill switch on the fuel pump.
I have started to investigate why the rear wiper doesn't work - doesn't help that the back door is rusty, but it is what it is.
Replaced the very rusty bonnet hinge bolts with shiny stainless ones.
Painted the removable under seat sliding covers - purely cosmetic, but looks better now.
I have also ordered a side step for the passenger side, as my wife complains about having to "climb in".

Rain has stopped play for the weekend, but I am starting to get a feel for what needs doing on the vehicle (aside from a massive amount of bodywork renovation).

Pete

I don’t think so as it’s just chipping off really easily. Think I’m going to have to white spirit to dissolve all the varnish and wax, then sand back, re-stain if needed and then varnish.

Absolute schoolboy error!!
Not varnish try diamond glaze a lot more hard wearing
