I'd love a snorkel. High on the wishlist.
But todays job was to finish my saggy headliner project.
Not perfect result, but definitely better than before and I love it.
Lets see where the money is going to next.

Started on saggy and moldy headliner project. Painting the headboard instead of new lining.

Had a quiet day at the office so walked to the local LR stealer to see if they are willing to give me a list of what work they have ever done my my D2 and they will, happy days, I just need to pop back with proof of ownership. This is the only LR stealer on the Island, and I bet my Disco was never there! I know it was originally purchased from the UK, and then almost immediately registered over here on the Island, so I think there is a high chance that it may have gone back to it's original seller. It'll certainly be interesting either way.

So, no luck with the local stealer, apparently my Disco has never had any work done by them. A bit worrying considering they are the only LR certified garage on the Island, but understanable given the extorionate prices prices they charge
Need to rummage around the small amount of existing paperwork now and contact the original selling stealer in the UK and see if they can shed any light on the motors service history.

I have found that my Disco was sold by James Edwards Land Rover Brock, which I have reason to believe is in Preston, so I've dropped them a quick email to see if they are willing to help with service history.
On another note, would I be correct in my understanding that the oil pump bolt issue was just a TSB rather than a recall from Land Rover?

I believe you are correct, in that it was not a recall. Although I am not sure it was even an "official" TSB, as I understood they would not admit liability, BUT I may be wrong.

As I understand it, Again I could be wrong. LR did replace a few engines under warranty that broke because of this failure. But It is not cost effective for them to do a recall and as it is not safety related they are not obliged too. It seems to have hit cars of all ages, a later 04 was on here at Xmas time with the failure.
If you ever find the TSB if it exists , it would be interesting to see it.

hope u didn't mind and as a side note , did u ever hear about some crankshafts were snapping , seemed to be happening mainly on the 2007 disco engines
along with oil pump covers also splitting causing catastrophic engine failure , definitely makes u wonder why it's happened throughout the years

this was one of the members on the d3 forum
agree that must have made one hell of a noise , think i would keel over with a heart attack, read some dealers were quoting 15k for a new engine
pretty sure he got a reconditioned jaguar engine for just over 3k

You'd have to check/replace everything after that bang. Wow I'd be crying on the side of the road...
think that would be a defib job , pretty sure the guy managed to strip off most of ancillaries,

removed the headliner again after yesturdays rain its leakibg again. this time iv sat in the car while it rains and can see its dripping from the sunriif securing bilts so they have akl been sealed from plastic fittings in the rear of the sunroif try abd today iv given each screw that holds the glass in place a turn each.....a whole turn.....ffs. am now sittibg tge tge car while the wife has the hose going

Did you ever remove the frame and seal the outside frame to the outside of the roof?

nope but if i carries on leaking thats my last thing on my list. seems it like to leak alot between the glass and seal after adjusting the glass abd diing the screws up a bit seems water tight at last...... watch this space
