think the main thing is if ur happy with the car

agree the yank cars do seem to come with all the extras as standard

ref parts , i've always gone for oem parts on engine, suspension and brakes, so at least u know it's not a cheap imported part

i bought mine for more than half that , issues with suspension etc.but nothing i can't sort out

knew what it needed , like all land rovers we end up bringing them back to being 100 percent

that's what i enjoy doing along with many others as well

also went into it with my eyes wide open, done a lot of research , but got one that is standard , so sat nav etc

as it's my first disco thought it better to not take on the hse model with its extra electronics, am more than happy to use my tom tom, upgraded my front seats to electric already

also mines an ins group 33 and the higher u to with the models the higher the ins

more than happy , has the terrain response system, electric locking diff, hi, low range

rear parking sensors etc etc

like the rear boot system in having the lower part drop down the same as the rangies

put a new suspension compressor in so that's all done now, all the suspension bushes lower arms are already done

just got to get the cam belts etc replaced, it's on 98,000 miles

will replace all the discs and pads after

will be then a really nice landy

blimey i'm gassing as per usual

i've never worried what others have thought , like ur good self , u paid for it, drive and run it , so as long as ur enjoy driving it that's all that matters

Yes I'm hoping can sort these niggles quickly and painlessly.

Yep loads of toys to break ha ha.

Yes I don't really want to cut corners on quality at all so will check with the Jeep club on where to get parts from.

Wow that's really good value mate! There were a few cheap jeeps about but wanted a good one to start with as I work 60-70 hours a week so don't have a lot of time for working on it, plus got the D1 to look after too.

Yes have been reading your thread and seeing the upgrades, does look a very nice motor.

So with the terrain response they are probably pretty well matched off road.

Yes got front and rear parking sensors too, thought it was best on something this size lol.

Ah yes that was the only thing I wish it had, a split boot setup like the D3. That is a lot better than the RR Sport type arrangement on the jeep.
No air suspension either.

Yes I do like it, it drive nice and is very comfortable and quiet.

that's something i was very surprised with in how quite it is

when i had my hippo i had to replace the heater matrix, renewed the dashboard at the same time as it had a big scratch going across it and drove me nuts

fitted more sound deadening in the hippo which made a difference

but after driving the disco down the motorway was just taken back with it being considerably quieter than the hippo

had mine off road for a little play , nothing extreme just generally and can tell the difference with its extra off road capability

reminds me i've got to take the rear bumper off, got to replace a parking sensor , thought it was good finding out if they were faulty , by putting the ign on, in reverse then putting ur ear close to the parking sensor and can hear them clicking , if they don't there faulty

will replace all four as i bet if i just done one , another would fail , lol

to be honest i don't know how they compare off road

the front electric seats were a challenge and a half, there was me thinking it would be easy swapping the covers over, pleased now that i done them , they are so much more comfortable now, as i swapped the foam back and cushions at the same time

as they have the electric front cushion adjustment now that supports behind ur knees which is heaven

have the heated and electric mirrors. it there not powerfold , but refuse to pay £200 each just for them to fold

seen a good mod where u buy a d4 satnav plastic surround and fit the tom tom in there ,

still prefer the d3 interior to the d4-5 , don't like they've removed the gearstick and it seems. out of the cup holders as well

always liked motors in black

going to get some sliders on mine , steps are supposed to collect all the dirt etc

did also remove the boot window tints, found them hard to see out of at night in the rain and always concerned me just in case i didn't see something whilst reversing

can see now why so many have the reverse camera option, lol

also pleased mine hasn't got sunroofs , sold my towbar as i'm not going to tow and thought it pointless being there

got it so i can take my parents, family out and also still have room for the dogs and room in the boot

Me too, even if they are a bitch to keep clean ha ha.

The jeep came with a "chrome pack" from factory.
I love the side steps, wasn't 100% on the mirror and door handle covers but do look more subtle with the black wheels instead of the original silver ones.
Don't fancy ripping the paint off getting them off either.

Tints don't seem to be too bad to deal with on this, but then the reverse lights are like full beams and it has the factory rear camera kit.

Apparently sunroofs just don't leak on these so fingers crossed. I'm currently looking for a tow bar for mine just unsure which version to get.

Wanted something safe for the missus to drive that will still work in ice and (unlikely) snow.
Plus wanna get a dog eventually and I wanna be able to tow should the need arise.

Yours does look really smart mate.

Different level on vehicle I suppose, closer to Range Rover than Hippo.

Would like to take mine on a couple of non scratchy lanes just to see how it does but with 265/35/20 Pirelli'a probably not wise, plus the missus would kill me if I scratched it.

Handy you can tell if they are not working. If a sensor packs up on this the dash will tell you but have to plug it in to diagnostic to find out which one.

Yes I can imagine that was a big taste getting the new seats to work. Very satisfying when done though.

Hmmm yes the d4 is a bit space ship inside. Always thought I'd love to get a D3 and make the outside look like a D4. Best of both worlds.

intend at some stage to fit the D4 styled front grill on mine

won't worry with the led rear lights as they are around £500 quid a pair, which i think is a pointless exercise and don't want it to look horrible , can't warrant that kind of money either

mine came with some cheap plastic covers on the mirrors and door handles, ripped them all off

going to buy a model type spray gun , mask the handles off, rub them down and spray them matt black

does seem the D3 is miles away from the hippo , know these need some more looking after and the parts are considerably easier, fuel isnt brilliant , but well worth it

many reporting 35 mpg plus on a run

keep looking at these synergy boxes, had one on my td4 and found it brilliant

will do the egr blank first then see how it performs

very impressed with the power, where i've been up the same hills in the hippo this just glides up there effortlessly, it know it's a far bigger engine with a massive amount of torque

wish i had got a disco before , know every model comes with its problems, think in doing the research can see what they suffer from and make a decision on that

at the end of the day i'm chuffed with mine, once i've got the bits done will be a really nice landy to have

agree ref the hippo and the disco they are completely different models and there capabilities , with the simple fact a hippo wouldn't stand a chance in keeping up with the bigger off roaders in the tougher terrain, due to its limitations

Before you go down the route of those "Synergy boxes", have a word with Dynachip about a remap.

thks , not going to rush into anything

know it's a totally different ball game with these engines

once i've got all my cam belts replaced, egr blanked will then see how the engine and mpg is

will run it over at least a few hundred miles

is it true that if u do a hard reset that u can loose the remap

put some advanced diesel in mine a few weeks back and it does seem to respond well to it

dont know how it compares with putting millers into the tank, know some also put 2 x stroke in, but don't wish to get involved with that

will start briming the tank to see how much difference there is on the display mpg compared to reality , lol

changed the sidelights for some canbus error free leds

still come up as an error when i plug the iid in though, lol

I had about 6 spurious codes that appeared every time I scanned, searched revealed that they meant virtually nothing.
when I reflashed the BCU those codes disappeared and haven't came back.

that's good to know thks,

doesn't bother me if i'm honest , in the advert they claim to be canbus error free

yeh right ,

Make sure if you're going to flash the BCU, you don't have anything planned for the rest of the day.
My flashing!! didn't work and I had to obtain an update from GAP to get the car started.

made sure it's got enough diesel

so it's all ready for the main land rover dealer to collect tues, 29/12

going in for the brake pipe servo recal

even better it being foc

when i done the upgrade 2007 flash that also put the clock on the instrument panel it took around 3x minutes to complete

prior to doing the upgrade , i charged the battery up and also made sure the ipad was fully charged

made sure the radio was also off, as i believe this can throw problems in when trying to do the ecu flash software upgrade, don't know how true that is but turned the radio off none the less

Checked the lieometer on the dash, still getting circa 30mpg

@gstuart :D:D:D:D

currently mines gone from 9mpg to around 21mpg around town

seems it just doesn't like short trips to the shops etc

that is really good mileage ur getting

have put some diesel plus in mine , don't know how it compares with millers, but know millers does indeed increase the octane level

will be interesting to see what the egr blank does ,

got to also free up the turbo actuator arm, as it came up as an iid error code

in the iid software as u put the ign on it motors the actuator arm over , but difficult trying to see as u have to look through the nsf wheel arch

also going to pick up a cheap obd2 bluetooth reader that gives basic maf and map live data

as the iid shouldn't be left in for any extended length of time

Fixed an intermittent fault with the left front indicator by replacing the bulb holder. Cheaper than chips (L/R p/n XBP100180, cheaper than the local chip shop, even!) Five minute job, easy peasy :D
