bloody hell i missed this post :p:p:D:D

found the problem with the airbags , there not there, :(:(

got to now buy two side curtain airbags , the iid is suppose to clear the ecm back to normal state

will be fun dropping the headlining , will be a lot of tension in the car as i bolt them in , plugged in then slowly reconnect the battery ,

rubber hammer, i do own proper ones too, even some sockets as well

think my torque wrench needs replacing , one only goes to 100ilbs, need one into the 150ilbs range

can see the difference and a bigger breaker bar ,

discool , don't tell me someone has volunteered u , even cake i don't think is enough to get involved with this one :D:D

Could have gone to Kwik Fit or even Halfords for my 5 star winter condition check but did my own check which took all of 10 minutes.

Surprised, surprise my transfer box lever wouldn't move, seized I hear you say, ok rolled underneath and sprayed the linkage that I could see with all the spray lubricant in could find, black grease, white grease, waxoyl, anti-seize oil, chainsaw oil, spray copper slip... plus any other thing I could find.

So now leaving things to soak over night or drip down on the driveway

The first and last time I used the lever was to engage diff lock in the winter of 2011-2012 for the two weeks we had snow, it engaged smoothly, just using my thumb to move the lever across into diff lock, not bad I thought for 14+ years of non use and it stopped the disco going into a sideways slide on bends.

So tomorrow we will see if diff lock engages, its not an issue if it doesn't, I won't be stripping out the center console to get at the linkage, but nice to have it working... when I owned my RR for the 10 years I never even touched the transfer box lever, and we had more snow, so it shows how much I will mis using diff lock. :D

The ranges of torque wrenches for DIY use can go better than that, if I was buying again, I'd go for at least 210 lbf. Or better still, 300 lbf. Any bigger than that and you're into professional kit at "professional" prices.
Make sure that when you put a torque wrench away, wind the spring back to its relaxed position, it should stay accurate for longer.

funny enough that was one of the first things my dad taught me, to always unwind the springs on a torque wrench and always done since

so one up to 300ilbs will do me then and use the other one for smaller jobs

i know i wouldn't ever wish to change the lower wishbone bushes , see many people buy the whole wishbone with the bushes already fitted, it need an airgun to remove the funny shaped bolts

that would be a garage job

will be buying s rebuild kit for my air compressor , think it's a hitachi, this will make u laugh , i thought at first the two air reservoirs underneath were side impact protection

smacked myself on the forehead when i realised they were for the air suspension , dooooohhhhhhh

am loving learning about the d3 , totally different beast and will feel very confident this time off road in having some good ground clearance

looked on the iid and see there's a flash update for the suspension , gulp, got to build up the courage first to press continue, there's also i see a good program to level up all the suspension , but got to read the manual again and again to understand how it's done

wish i had bought a disco sooner , are a lovely motor and nice sitting higher than before

Soooo! why ain't they fitted??:eek: Friday afternoon motor ? bi chance:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

unbeknown to me they have gone off before i owned it, they removed them and even the garage i bought it from didn't know, contacted the manager and to say the least he was horrified , told him i want some compensation or i will reject the car, he's coming back to me tues

either that or i will drive and walk into his showroom , as they haven't got a leg to stand on , got the 30 x days consumer trade act , not fit for purpose

just don't want the agro, if he sent me at least £500 quid i think should be enough , if not i will instruct a solicitor , certainally won't mess around or take any flack from them

to be fair the manager was very sorry , nothing came up on the pre car check that it had been side swiped and caused the drivers side airbags off and both pre tensioners

is going into a garage for a full inspection and service weds , the guy i trust and look after my landies for the last 6-7 years , he will make sure it's safe mechanically and also replace all the oils and filters so i have a starting point

will also ensure if any further issues ,

know i've got to rebuild the air suspension compressor as that's a bit noisy and think the muffler on it ,

:eek:Kin Hell Boy !
These cut & shut boy's are getting good  From wot I've seen of the motor their dun't seem to be any bent panels
If it were mine I would have THEM fit them ! That way you don't have to p*ss about getting them programmed to the motor(if they do) If the won't play ball tell them you don't wont it & that your going to Invoice them for the extras you've put on since you've owned it !:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

looks good , wouldn't mind getting one on mine

always wondered if they should point forward or backwards , sounds daft and thinking about motorway speeds and if it can force too much air into the engine facing forward

not being rude in any way it was me thinking , which isn't very often :D:D

I was wondering myself when I was fitting it, you can turn it round no problem, I added a filter at the front (blue) to stop larger debris coming in. I am still wondering about rain water though! LOL
I blocked up all holes in the bottom of the air box as I plan wading a bit. Still need to do the breathers though.

wondering would it be any good if u ran the breather pipes up inside the snorkel so there raised and out of the way

i checked on mine and it says it has a 2 foot wading depth , not sure how that compares with the d1 and d2

imagine the d2 would be able to wade deeper than mine , thinking of the amount of electronics i have

also read i've got electronic diff locks on front and centre which are controlled by the terrain response system , combined with the traction control

saw a good video where i can have two wheels off the ground opposite front and back and still have traction

clever stuff

think i need a lesson in how to use it :D:eek:

i've worked it out , it has been side swiped on the drivers side , where a car has come into the door sideways , setting off the drivers side curtain airbags , both pre tensioners and steering wheel airbag

the steering wheel and drivers pretensioner had been replaced, that's what threw me at first

i've replaced the passenger pretensioner

i have informed the garage , i expect a call from them on tues, don't even think about messing me around or keep saying the manager isn't in , otherwise they will have a letter from a solicitor by friday

or will drive there myself and walk in the office , but will give them chance and really do hope they don't mess me around and resolve the issue in the way of compensation

to be honest wouldn't want them touching the car, would prefer the guy i use to fit them, as i trust him and know he will do the job properly
