Bar is a fixed measurement that approximates to 1 ATM as I understand it.ATM can be variable, Bar is a set measurement.

Again you are confusing things. 1 bar is 14.5psi and is not the same as 1ATM.
I cant think what use a gauge not starting at zero would be

It is indeed, deweaseled, currently. Still using it.
