At those speeds on the auto route, the P38 diesel gets close to 30mpgI got my best fill up yesterday! Brim to brim, 25.9mpg!!! But i spent lots of time doing 55-60 on the motorway
Nearly half the CC thoughAt those speeds on the auto route, the P38 diesel gets close to 30mpg
No need for monster engines.Nearly half the CC though
10 more then me, I also do enjoy the accelerator, a lot,I got my best fill up yesterday! Brim to brim, 25.9mpg!!! But i spent lots of time doing 55-60 on the motorway
If we drive Otto like that we get not far short with 4.0 petrol!I got my best fill up yesterday! Brim to brim, 25.9mpg!!! But i spent lots of time doing 55-60 on the motorway
I used to get 20-22 from my 4.0... I'd rather have the v8 any day!! Even if it's not as fast or powerful. With fuel prices it's probably cheaper to run than this dieseased effort!!If we drive Otto like that we get not far short with 4.0 petrol!
@Mark Piercy wouldn't you? Petrol every day!!I used to get 20-22 from my 4.0... I'd rather have the v8 any day!! Even if it's not as fast or powerful. With fuel prices it's probably cheaper to run than this dieseased effort!!

DieselsThe fact he has two of them answers that question?
And that’s just the ones he’s admitting to! Lol
It would depend on the uses of the car.. Short and frequent journeys (not for dpf based diesels) is better with petrol, longer drives then it's diesel for myself. Everywhere here is mostly at least 20 mins drive at 56mph. My brakes last forever@Mark Piercy wouldn't you? Petrol every day!!
So glad to see you are back it was a bit worrying with what is going on your endGreetings Gang, Well, I have been off the grid for the past 2 years due to the unpleasantness that kicked off here in Crimea. So put the black beast onto the axel stands and exited stage left to sunnier climbs for a while. Any how I'm back now and tomorrow will go and see how the Beast has fared. So, fingers crossed and hopefully my usual practice of when I have been away before will have paid off and after a bit of fettling I will put the battery back on and give it a whirl. Longest time before this one was 14 months and all was good but it's a much older vehicle now. I will give an update tomorrow on how it goes and hopefully not have to be asking any stupid questions of Errr what do I do now but know that you will all be there to help out if needed. Also, I am looking forward to being back around the forum and the lovely banter.
