That is what this P38 Rangie loving aircon bloke I met yesterday said. I'm going to save to get OEM. IIRC it was about £150-ish. Although, I've only given it a cursory look at the moment. I'll delve into it deeper another time.

Either way I am going to replace it. I had a little bit of a win just now in that the clutch on the compressor does operate when I apply 12v direct to it but I think it may need a bearing kit for it, that's if one is available. I haven't even begun to look yet.

Just accelerating out of a 30 limit, lose all drive and loads of revs!! Eek.. pull over, look at gear lever still in D, light has moved to 1. Turned off, and on, light went back to D .. oh dear
Just finished the replacement of the oil pan gasket and the accompanying engine oil change. Honestly, of all the jobs so far this was the worst, right there on top with scratching of the old underseal by hand. The local stealership apparently used all the torque the forgot on the tank cover on the drain plug and oil filter.
While removing the plug, with a hammer and my body weight, I moved the oil catch pan without realizing it. There it goes, one liter of oil on the drive way. Then the oil pan doesn't go off with steering and suspension in place, quite a bugger to get the new gasket in. And then I was afraid I'd brake the old filter before it goes of. It did, everything is back in, engine is running, driveway seems reasonably clean (5 kg of sand and all the remaining cleaning liquid hopefully did the job) and even better: everything is dry!
Not sure if I'll really tackle the gearbox and TC at home so... I gonna call the garage on Monday. For today I'm done. And dirty, half my hair is a mix of sand and oil...

My lad had the job of doing the oil change on a disco 4... The sump bolt is just at the side of the sub and when you let it out it splashes like an oil bomb... It goes everywhere

did u also keep it quiet he could have used a vacuum pump and removed the engine oil that way, lol
Reminds me I must do a full service on my D3 soon, has only done around 100 x miles in the last year but will still do engine , diffs, transfer and filters , including the fuel filter
plus got some 19 rims to replace my 17 but still haven’t decided what tyres to get, want AT that are also snowflake marked , will then leave them on all year round

Sorry i should have elaborated, when i put it into drive it was back to normal.. no issues for the rest of the day.
I thought if there was any gearbox problem it was supposed to lock into 3rd.. not go to neutral
