Today I found out my aircon system has a leak. A leak that I was assured was not there 2 years ago (2019) when it was last tested and filled. Please keep in mind the whole time I have owned the car since May 2018 the aircon has never blown cold. So even after it was tested and checked it didn't blow cold(unlike my ex.........she was just cold.).

So what am I going to do? Well I have a new drier to fit so I'll be doing that. I'll be testing the compressor clutch to make sure that at least engages, but I also need to get a new condenser. It'll all have to wait for now. I need my funds chucked towards, well, it seems to be just at the car in general. I hope it lands on me fixing the instrument cluster illumination. I'm going to get my hands on a 2nd hand indicator stalk to see if that is indeed the problem after I've tried to find the connector and check it all as suggested to me yesterday.
Exciting times.....................

dont plumb in the drier until you're ready to fill with gas, leave it sealed up

as for the indicator.. find the connector before getting a new stalk.. you'll need to find it then anyways :p

A few weeks ago I mentioned that my next job would be HVAC related!

Well she had an issue with the A/C not working, naturally I thought there were all sorts of issues

So just to amuse myself I connected my A/C gauge..

That'll be the issue then!

So I topped her off with a small can of refrigerant I had lying around, this reading below is normal when the compressor clutch is disengaged.

Thanks to the small can it is only sat on 20psi which is low however the compressor kicks on and off correctly and the A/C is ice cold

I'm expecting it too all leak out, however its nice to know all te stuff works.

The only issue is a dead interior fan which isn't blowing as much air as is ideal.

Watch this space!

Found I need to get / find my missing tools. Right size but short enough sockets to get on the exhaust heat shields, similar for the rocker covers. What I've got won't fit between the shield and the chassis. Also find my 6mm impact bit and apply some serious torque to the plenum chamber bolts - some numpty has RTVd it in the past and I thin gunged the threads solid with it. And probably, judging by most things, gorilla torqued them where they don't need to be. Maybe my 2 dead cylinders are just down to excess silicone ingestion stuck on the valves.
But got lots of other bits off / tucked out of the way ready to try to start getting the big lumps off over the weekend. I can see what I will be doing a lot of next week while I am on holiday!
