Those tracks are easy enough to repair.Looking at my now old one I see a crack on the board, and it covers 3 tracks, I think that's why its not working, and its not something I can repair, will keep it for parts (like you do, never ever going to need it but keep it!!)

Sure have seen some kind of pen type thing that will fill the tracks back in. Not sure but maybe some of the gurus will knowFor some maybe not for me though, I don't have soldering stuff even to start it, I was going to try and fix it then bay it to get my ££ back

Could be flux. If not in use no harm in trying a heat gun and cotton buds to clean it up is there?I don't know you can get a glue I know, but that would be too thick, having a real close look I don't think it is that, looks like something has spilt on it flux maybe?
Yea I cleaned it a little that's how I know, before it looked like a crack in the board, I need someone with soldering skills you have to cut the solder at the back put a little more on 2 spots at the front where the thing touches the switch, and then solder it back on
i will have a go at it if you want, nothing to loose if it works it works if dont your in the same boat.
I have a small soldering iron used it to fix the idrive nav button on the bemmer the other month worked a treat
