That aside, what's the cost if you don't go through the insurance?!
Bout 300ish all in it cost me. The correct screen (BP cheap as possible) and the bond.
I also bought one of these which was invaluable for the removal -

The problem is the top trim. That could be another £150-175 when IF it buckles like a piece of soggy spaghetti. Not a job for the cold weather with all the expensive to replace plastic surrounds but completely doable with patient approach and someone to help drop it in place. Takes quite bit of prep

You get a new top trim with autoglass fitted screens included in the excess cost.
Oh, and that was heated and tinted. I suspect, without any evidence at all, that is all they supply.
So, £135 (or whatever I said, but around that amount) for a tinted, heated screen with a new top trim, fitted. Which is a no brainer , like the mobile muppet who fitted it the first time.

Did you paint nearly everything bloody orange😜

No snow here in East Kent, no snow yesterday either, well, there was, but it was big wet flakes that melted upon landing. My Rangie is still with the local garage to change the oil cooler. Should have been ready Friday, but they found a couple of pipes to replace, phoned them today, needs a new thermostat housing so now maybe tomorrow!

I needed the car for work tonight, so now my partner's going to give me a lift to work in her 63 Disco! she'll also come out for a cold ride in my rail replacement bus from Gravesend to Gillingham. Got that job all week!
Mate of mine was a coach builder for arriva in northfleet and Gillingham at one point.

Had you done one before?

I'm a bit nervous of cocking something up!

My Rangey is still with the garage. They've done the oil cooler then found the thermostat housing was cracked and needs replacing. Another overnight wait.

One step forward and 2 steps back..

Set off to work this morning, rev needle didn’t move for a solid 10s after ignition.. strange then BEEP BEEP. I thought I briefly saw alternator fault and gearbox fault before they disappeared. So engine off and grabbed multimeter.

12.69v engine off, 11.5v engine on. Bollocks.

Thankfully I have a spare alternator I picked up about a year ago. That’ll be my evening then!

Be gentle with the tensioner when you take the pressure off the belt!

I only got the glass
That's strange. Both the mobile guys and the depot in Shrewsbury fitted new top trims . Had to wait 2 weeks for Shrewsbury though as the screen came in a week after my complaint of the shoddy fitted first one but another week for the new trim. 2 new screens, both with trims.

Found out the other day they didn't even refit all the trim clips properly.. dunno what you call them.. like a hollow split pin that you push another pin down the middle to hold in place.
Missing all the middle pins on both sides
