Maybe it was an aftermarket one put in by previous owner(s) ? It was like this:
No plastic on the matrix pipe connections on either of my P38'sMaybe it was an aftermarket one put in by previous owner(s) ? It was like this:

That's not an audi one, they have stubs. I got an audi one after my new O rings started leaking after about 18 months but then found the screw wasn't particularly tight so I tweaked it up and no more leaks.Maybe it was an aftermarket one put in by previous owner(s) ? It was like this:

Mine were metal flange and all the videos I've seen have metal flangesThe broken one in the car is Audi. That picture was what mine was like when I bought it, although Keith's sounds different. I've never seen one with metal flange for the pipes, but that doesn't mean they don't exist. @Datatek I suspect you got lucky if there's no plastic to break on yours !!
Some confusion here I think, my heater matrixes are original P38.The broken one in the car is Audi. That picture was what mine was like when I bought it, although Keith's sounds different. Nothing like a genuine P38 matrix. This one ??

No CAT or DPF on those nasty polluting fuel burning heaters.Spent ages defrosting the wifes car this morning so she could go babysitting, she's just said we need to go shopping so I said ok I'll defrost mine then

I could be wrong but I'm guessing it's less poluting than running the 3 litre engine which has no DPF eitherNo CAT or DPF on those nasty polluting fuel burning heaters.
Your 3 litre lump does have a CAT though. My P38 with electric cooling warms up very quickly, no need for a FBH.I could be wrong but I'm guessing it's less poluting than running the 3 litre engine which has no DPF either
Yes but you still have to be sat in it waiting instead of chatting on here with a nice cuppa.Your 3 litre lump does have a CAT though. My P38 with electric cooling warms up very quickly, no need for a FBH.
I start the P38 5 minutes before driving off in winter, by the time I get back to it, the windshield has melted enough for a quick scrape and the cabin is receiving heat. I can only guess which causes the most pollution, but going to the boatyard in winter, I could always tell by the smell when a FBH was running, often by the smoke as well.Yes but you still have to be sat in it waiting instead of chatting on here with a nice cuppa.
Pro's - chilling out with a brew
Con's - A little polution
Which one would you choose
If I tried doing that the car would get nicked or I would be done for leaving an unattended vehicle running, or both.I start the P38 5 minutes before driving off in winter, by the time I get back to it, the windshield has melted enough for a quick scrape and the cabin is receiving heat. I'm lucky, I have a field in which to parkIf I tried doing that the car would get nicked or I would be done for leaving an unattended vehicle running, or both.
