I've a couple of smart 5A onesThink it was a smart charger I saw in aldi yesterday, 14 quid odd iirc.
Didn't pay much attention though as I already have a ring.

what does everyone use to maintain battery voltage while doing ignition on diag? all the pukka tools seem silly expensive!
True, the Aldi one is the same.I have a smart charger from Lidl but if there is an interruption to the supply it stops charging until you press the button on it
Mine stays on the last mode, no on or off switch.. can't imagine why you'd have a charger that needs to be turned on/enabled with a 'soft' switchTrue, the Aldi one is the same.
Just like the one I have, I also have an earlier version with just LED's to indicate state of charge. When its first connected it just shows voltage, you then have to press the button to select bike/car/snowflake before it charges. It does auto 6/12v for bikes so dunno why it cant just charge without input. Apart from that I like it, displays voltage and theres a 3 or 4 bar symbol for charging progress
that is true, but conversely, i can fit and forget mine, if there is a power outage/cable unplugged then it continues when power is restored, useful on my bikes that don't get used over winterJust like the one I have, I also have an earlier version with just LED's to indicate state of charge.
It would not be deemed safe if it came on with the previous settings as it might be set to 12 volts and then be connected to a 6 volt battery.
I agree the safety aspect is typical EU OTT. I have solar chargers for all my vehicles, cheap to run and not affected by power failures. I even have a solar charging point in the house for mobile phones since the panic about winter power shortagesthat is true, but conversely, i can fit and forget mine, if there is a power outage/cable unplugged then it continues when power is restored, useful on my bikes that don't get used over winter
I have solar too, not that theres been much sun, but at least its there so my phone can endlessly search for signal in a power outageI agree the safety aspect is typical EU OTT. I bought a solar charger for when I went in hospital and knew I wouldn't be driving for a while. Kept the battery topped up nicely. No problems with starting even after 6 weeksI have solar too, not that theres been much sun, but at least its there so my phone can endlessly search for signal in a power outage
Also, is the gas strut supposed to be sorting like for the upper tailgate, or is it supposed to act as a damper? I can push it both ways and it stays in position
Yea, sorry, don't really see what it's for.. maybe so it doesn't crash open too hard. Are we talking L322 language?

Think the earlier ones don't have it
This is a tiny one on the lower tailgate. In that case, my old ones were weak so the upper tailgate did fall on my head a few times, after fitting the new ones it does crash open so I assume they are spring loaded.
