Yeah thats a little less appealing, to be honest i carry a mobile phone logged into got knows how many things and use my bank card everywhere, i highly doubt theres anything interesting enough in my life for the elite to care about

Yeah, nice car but kind of missed the point. The okd Defender went anywhere with bales or whatever in the back. Knock a wing-mirror off? £5 and bokt a new one on. The new thing costs a smeggin fortune before you've even battered it. Should be cheap and simple.

I do agree with you on that one the price of a motor with a utilitarian workhorse name is eye watering, the jap basic pickups seem to have taken over that use of a motor before the old defender stopped production

If I had the cash to buy a new Defender, I would be looking at the Ineos Grenadier which appears to be a proper Defender replacement.

Pricey, again. And I am not convinced BMW engines are as reliable as they seem to suggest.

I think they (BMW) engines used to be very good, especially the bigger/proper ones.
Emissions requirements have made modern engines unreliable

Had to use it to go to work as the work van has decided not to play, had to unfreeze a condensate pipe from a boiler so the 92 year old`s heating would work again.

Tried again to get the full size spare out of the l322 boot. Even with 2 working arms, i don't see that it's possible on your own.
Sitting on the tailgate it's easy to lift the nearest part. You then need to lift the far side of the wheel up and over the eas compressor.
I don't have the weight or strength to lift a wheel at arm's length!!
I've found the screw holes where a lift strap would fit, they are painted over still so never been used.
Someone has had the wheel out though, it's been on the car at some point!!

I have done it, and yes its an arse clench. Get the straps
. why they weren't a standard fit I don't know.Oh dont forget to put the little bar in the tailgate after you have lifted the wheel. cos a tailgate in the chops is not a good look

As for lifting it out again without the straps I will get my man to do it

There's a few on ebay, without the necessary bolts and no plastic barAs for lifting it out again without the straps I will get my man to do it

Which one? I had the M50 engine in my 325, it was bulletproof and drove like new with 230000 miles on it, never missed a beat

Finally got it! Started to get grumpy with it, usually does the trick. I now have my own lifting strap until i get something betterAs for lifting it out again without the straps I will get my man to do it

I don't know the engine designation, it was a 2.5 litre petrol six. From new, I had to take 5 litres of oil with me to go to Birmingham from the south coast and back. According to BMW, it would improve as it ran in. It didn't it just got worse. BMW basically told ne to feck off, I would have needed to go to court to get the batards to do anything about it. It went to BCA whilst still under guarantee.

That's mad! Never heard much about bad 6ers when i was a beemer boy, only had gaskets on some of the 4 cylinders. Mine was a 1994 model.
