So.... It went swimming... It nearly caught fire... It sat for four hours in water... The results are in....
Buggered pulleys,
Buggered water pump,
Buggered alternator,
Buggered starter motor,
Buggered door speaker..
No water in the gearbox or in the front axle... Pffew.. That could have been much worse... It could have turned into an évoque :D..
My mate Keith has sorted a replacement speaker. :D
So for a 500€ euro bill... it lives.
Two replacement door locks from my scrapper and a Shït load of luck:cool:

I've had luck with exchange engines, however can't guarantee you'll have either a good one or a **** one ;)

V8dev do short blocks or turn key engines ;)
Yea you takes yer chance!! Helps to know some kind of confusion/history though, rather than 'it came from a scrapper'

Last time i checked they were silly money and they didn't have stock anyways

That's where my current one came from ;)
Problem is, i get the impression that whether you buy an engine for £700 with '100000 miles' on it or pay 1200 for an engine with '30000 miles' on it, you get the next engine in line.. it might be just run in or it might have 250000 miles on it.. maybe I'm cynical but you don't seem to get the advertised engine, just 'one off the shelf'

If he's got one in, William will give you the accurate info Kermit.

I'll give that a go next.

It was a purple/black I found a small repair on. Assuming it was a P/O. Unfortunately didn't fix anything splicing in a strong repair.

Although I mentioned scrapping it in, a P38 was a dream car from my youth. I've had mine for 10 years, the biggest issue with her is she is my daily driver. Really P38s need to be a weekend toy... or at least have a spare reliable second car in the stable. Sure MoT season is stressful, but that's the charm.

Does that loom go near the seat mount? Might have been trapped or damaged near there?
