Blue smoke, back in the dark ages, meant burning oil, Kermit.Think HG might be worser.. lots of blue smoke.. need to do it this week
If it's stem seals, head needs to come off? That's most likely at this point, given it cleared upBlue smoke, back in the dark ages, meant burning oil, Kermit.
You're determined - come hell or high water - to do that head gasket...
I don't have have the technical knowledge, nor the mechanical skills to comment Kermit. BUT...this is LZ, so you know help is just a pi55-taking message or five away. I wish you good luck!If it's stem seals, head needs to come off? That's most likely at this point, given it cleared up
You'll need gaskets Kermit...don't forget!Pull the head off it Kermie.

Now that's a good idea, i think I'll get right on itYou'll need gaskets Kermit...don't forget!
Pi55-taking message 1...beaten by Alan's sage advice!
On a serious note, I hope you'll fully resolve the issue(s) swiftly.

you sure its not the plug/plug lead/injector ?Been thinking about my predicament and looking at the head gasket i have ready to go on..
The only way exhaust gas can get into the coolant, is via #1 or #7 where the coolant goes on/out of the head is that right? I'm having cold misfire issues with #3

No I'm not 100% sure.. i started out thinking it was the injector because of the petrol smell from the exhaust and the o2 trim skewing, but that could simply be a non-fireyou sure its not the plug/plug lead/injector ?
I don't want to go down that route with this engineCracked block due to thin water jacket wall or cracked liner - new liner should cure both.
Nope - but you are in ScotlandQuick question: anyone ever been charged for 'sundries' when getting a job done?
Sundries being copper slip ,,cutting discs, lubricant to remove nuts and a couple of other things. I know they'll work it in to the price usually, but I've never been charged for them as a separate group.
could always be a cracked head ?I don't want to go down that route with this engine
Nope - but you are in Scotland
it'll be the garage penny pinching - have you used them before or is this the 1st time ? I'd use another garage personally in future. And?
