12 point bolts are frigging stupid :(
Sockets are never a *precise* fit, add to that a bit of rust and there not much left to get hold of
Plug weld a big hex nut on to it. Combination of welding heat, grip and access should do it.

Had to do that on a few things over the years - oil filter bolt on the XJ550 that had been tightened far too much when I got it and only had a 10mm head. 17mm nut wended on it came out easy.

There wasn't much room to get a spanner on, never mind a welder

I sit upright in the seat compared to other vehicles. Best thing I’ve ever driven for my lower back/hips. Hilux werent too bad but bouncy with leaf springs which could give you a jolt. beemers are a no for me for this exact reason. You all saw what i did to mine.

I actually meant the carrier Kermie. The callipers I just sheared them right off
(EZ outs still available if you need them);)

Most uncomfortable car I have owned was my XJ40.

Very comfy seats but they didn't go back far enough, so a sore knee from being jammed against the dash was a shame..

Miss that car. :(

Great drive.

I don't find the p38 driving position conducive to a reclined seat, seems to be betterer more upright.
Used to have the seat in my beemer reclined a long way, i could drive all day in that car
The plus for me is being able to extend the steering column and lower it which is what allows me to recline the seat back.
The second most comfortable car was my XJS but I had to mod the seat mounts to raise the front of the seat or with the back reclined a bit I found I would slide forward.

Said a tearful good bye to me beautiful L405 yesterday. As much as i loved her to bits i had not used her for 3 months and since buying her last year and with all this covid ****e i had only done 1500 miles in her and at £585 to tax for 12 months it was a big pill to swallow. I also missed having a classic car in my mancave so i have bought another which is only £280 to tax and at least i can start going to the car shows again this year where as i could not with the L405 as she was too new.
The L405 has gone in to the trade with a specialist who deals with them all the time amongst his other marques so someone soon will be aquiring a mint L405. I got top money for her too in Px so i am very happy with the deal we did albeit i tad sad as she was closed trailered away all pristine looking. Time to start tinkering again with my new aquisition. This is now my 3rd of this marque. Love em i do.

Not a single issue:)
Temp gauge stayed rock steady even after being stuck for an hour and a half due to a prang on the m6. Went to Plymouth.
24mpg average. Mainly 60mph going, 70 occasionally 80 coming back.
4 up and the boot full as well as the centre seat and footwell.
I trust her now, turned out to be a good purchase in the end:).
Nice one Had every confidence it you :):)
