What did you do with your Range Rover today

go for a kent cam with just a little bit more power and torque.
got my first start building industrial units right next to KentCams. Had 3 weeks work but was there for years. Used to go in and buy chilled cans out of the vending machine and you get joking and laughing with the boys. They’d take us in to see what they were doing in the shop. Breathtaking some of it - one was an F1 car they were putting together lining it all up with lasers. In return we used to leave the gates open when everyone had gone so they could use the brand new tarmac for ‘testing’. Good bunch of guys and insane drivers lol.

1001 pages wow. Im sure this thread was in the 300s when i joined with my red p38 6 years ago. (corrected i was 24 when i got my red p38)

I think its was almost fate i ended up with a l322 and a gearbox job....

Red p38 auto smashed flex plate gearbox out.
Black p38 manual box was always seconds from exploding.
Green p38 manual. Box had no syncros left im sure.
Disco 2. 2 gearboxes went bang.

There seems to be a theme here, have you thought of taking the divers boot off your right foot?;):D:D

Off to look at 2 P38's tomorow local to me. 1 is a 97 model 4.6 Autobiograpy model and the other is a 2001 4.0 HSE. Both cars are blue. If either one floats my boat then i may buy one of them or just wait for the dealer of the red Vogue SE to get back to me to say he has fixed the oil leak on it and then resume that deal.
Oh the joys of P38 hunting eh!!! LOL

i know someone who managed to kill an autobox, never put foot on the brake when shifting to D or R and would shift between the 2 while still in motion
Not quite D to R , but I once did 3rd to R, in a 'special duties' Range Rover.
I was on a Close Protection course and doing the 'get the hell out of here , we've been ambushed' drill. So out of the blue a car blocks the road, shots fired. The accepted action was slow down, into reverse and j-turn. However, in my 'eagerness', I just slammed from 3rd to reverse. Ohhhhhh you should've seen everyone's faces

done a J in a manual box, with a clutch, auto sounds 'awkward'
I've never tried it in an auto. I suppose brakes on , reverse selected, then neutral as you throw it round , putting it in to semi-auto to go forward, before going back into auto? Sounds complicated. All of our 'special duties' vehicles were manual. So never had to try it

When I did mine I was told to hit the back (if the road was blocked by the car) and keep driving forward, the trouble with U turns and J turns is you have to almost stop to make them

There are several solutions, I was only relating that one as it tied in with the conversation. Who did you do your Close Protection course with?
