done a J in a manual box, with a clutch, auto sounds 'awkward'
When the police used P38 as patrol cars, it was well documented they'd drop them into reverse at around 30-40 mph to bring them to an almost immediate stop :D tough old boxes, I wouldn't recommend it though ;) :D

My Brother decided to play around with the "E.T Handle" as he calls it and managed to drop it mine into reverse at 20mph, that was fun :D

I've never tried it in an auto. I suppose brakes on , reverse selected, then neutral as you throw it round , putting it in to semi-auto to go forward, before going back into auto? Sounds complicated. All of our 'special duties' vehicles were manual. So never had to try it
I spun my S type around using a method close to that, In reverse at higher speed then spin the steering wheel and lift off the throttle when the front comes around slam it into drive and pedal to the metal ;)

My Uncle was a Traffic cop so I learnt and still do learn a few tricks ;)

Was driving someone else's car a while back, with their 10 year old kid in the front seat, he decided it would be really funny to put the car into park. We were doing 20-25mph at a guess. That was fun!!!

Swore some more at it.

Power steering pump is n the way out- rattling like crazy.

And no, I STILL haven't gotten round to fixing the sunroof

Could try a fluid change? The reservoir is a couple of bolts and then you can wiggle it free to tip it out on the diesel. Takes a few times to flush it all out of the pump (turning lock to lock with engine running).

Oh cool! Thanks for that! I'll give it a go and see if it helps.
