Hi, i have recently purchased a 99 v-plate range rover 2.5 dhse and have had a couple of warning mesgages come up. One is an air bag fault the other is the book symbol on the climate control screen.
Have you got any ideas. Thanks

welcome to lz, have a look for blend motors on the search button at the top of the page, thats the book symbol. does your horn still work? as it could be one of the same problem..

ok under the drivers seat you will find a pink plug, just waggel it a bit the turn your key on. it is offen just the plug comes loose with the seat getting moved back and forward..

Are you sure this is in the right section? :D:D:D

If its an srs airbag fault, the airbag connectors under the seat are yellow not pink. J has been in Claws Gimp suit again and the red mist has come down over his eyes.

Air bag connectors under both front seats are yellow.

Disconnect them and push back together, might just be that simple.

Book symbol could be all sorts, need more info.

Thanks for all your help guys. Will check the connectors under the seats and let you know. (First timer with a RR and wife had to move the seat forward so maybe thats caused the problem - blame her anyway!!!)

Would this be true in a non-side-airbag car? I have the light on but don't want to go rooting under the seats if there's nothing there.

aight. thanks data. centre console coming out instead to have a look at the SRS ECU.

More likely the flexible connection to the steering wheel airbag. Nothing to see on the SRS ECU apart from the big connector.

Make sure you disconnect the car battery well before you do any work on it to avoid accidental detonation of an airbag:eek:

Hi could you explain about the flexable connection, I have been through every damn connection and still have the srs light on, but sometimes it will go out and stay that way for days then will come back on, also find that sometimes on journeys of more than say 70 miles it will go out. Kind of wary about these things incase I set it off.
Cheers

Can't remember the proper name, rotary coupler I think, it connects the steering airbag, horn and other wheel mounted buttons. Always dissconnect the car battery 30 minutes before working on the SRS to allow the internal reservoirs in the SRS ECU to discharge.

I have the same book symbol all the time and when that is on sometimes the heater fan will not work ,
I think the air con may need gassing and as im on a trip in Greece i don't need the air con at the moment so it will have to wait till i get back to England .
Ive just done 20 000 miles since i bought this 1999 RR six months ago.
The problems ive had with it are tyres which i bought 2 new ones before i left and had to replace 2 as it got a side wall blister and could not get in touch with Pirrelli so i replaced with another make as i need tryes that last more than 15000 miles.
The other problem was the center console packed up when i was in Kosovo and could not open windows or sunroof but i got a secondhand unit fitted at the land rover dealer in Pristina.
The last problem I have is the passengerdoor will not open and the lock will have to be destroyed to fix that so that will have to wait and the misses will have to climb in from the drivers side
Otherwise this car has preformed well and been through Snow deep mud and rocky tracks
