Turbo problems - is it deid?

don't bother if you are going to fit the gauge soon. it'll tell you if it's stuck open or not

Awch it's too late at night. Though I did wonder why he was undressing me with his eyes

Righty wastegate is fine. No splits or loose hoses anywhere that I can see. I've changed the air filter for a less restrictive one and changed the fuel filter which, I think, has made it slightly better for now but its still doing it. Anything else I could look at?

intercooler hole, cracked manifold, small split in the pipes that only shows under pressure, de-lamination of pipes causing crushing under vac

Pipes from air filter to turbo are new, intercooler to manifold are new, other pipes are fine but I have new ones to replace with. Might be a small split, I could see about replacing the pipe that goes to the pump

turn the engine on and rev it by hand via the actuator whilst watching the pipes

Pipes will feel spongy/thinner in section where this has happened..

Hm ill put the new ones on and see how it goes

Still sounds like an air leak somewhere. Maybe the intercooler matrix???
Have you got a boost gauge? If yes what does it read at full throttle under load?
Its hard to get boost readings just free revving.
