Right guys here's the most recent events
Well ill start with the bad news :/ my head rebuild doesn't seem to have solved the engine problems after all :/ still running like a bag of nails, no1 compression is Half that of the other 3 so has to be piston rings which means engine swap :/ ooh well it's not actually a hard job apart from doing the timing but should be able to bash it out in a good day. Anyway lets get onto better news
Started with a little panel straightening where I was hit on the rear tub
Not perfect but not bad
And my winch arrived the other day and so we placed it on the front to see how she fits
Mmm meaty not horrendously heavy actually and sits right back against the rad do the approach angle is as good as standard although slightly worse than my costom made bumper.
Now onto tonight's activities
First chopped off the old crossmember using the plasma cutter as it gets in tighter spaces easier
As you can see its not what you could call straight lol
While I had good access to the inside of the chassis I thought it would be a good idea to give it a wash out and wax oil, I would find out later that this isn't a brilliant idea
As its abit cold I had to warm the wax up first to get it to spray
So on with the new crossmember I first started by welding on the interior plates of the mounts
And then tacked on the surrounding plates
I took one or two off when fitting to replace them or to get to a plate better but worked quite well
Of course it's really important that what your welding to is clean and seeing as my chassis had a lot of wax oil on from previous wax oiling took abit of grongong off
It's currently just tacked on, I'm gonna remove the tub to weld it properly but I wanted the tub on to place the bolt holes
Anyway I know it's a long one but have been busy lately and haven't managed to update much plus we always get distracted. . .
Haha
