Gotta go back a few inches though which will require some bulkhead cutting

Hmmm after some measuring the auto box is 7 inches longer with the viscous transfer box than my current setup. Currently there is a 7 inch gap between the rear of the v8 and the front of the gearbox when the engine is place above the original mounts. And so by fitting the v8 I can use original mounts and don't have to make any adapter plates. I would have to lengthen the rear prop by 3 inches to account for the shorter length in the viscous than the lt230 which isn't a problem

Now do I want an auto and have to Q plate it or do I stay manual and have to cut the bulkhead and make an adapter plate hmmmm ...

The other problem would be the engine is 7 inches away from the bulkhead and so that doesn't help weight distribution and the auto is heavier than the manual making everything heavier and my rear rad pipes won't work with a viscous transfer box as its too close for where they currently are so they'd have to be remade



So auto and use original mounts and have it done in a few days and q plate or manual ?

why q plate ?if you want an auto just fit it

Move the current box forward and fit the adaptor plate, if need be can always fit the discovery gear stick or modify the bends in the current one ?

Manual as the auto requires more electrics.
I would scrap the EFI and mega squirt it too as EFI is unreliable mixed with water

theres no extra electrics with auto apart from inhibitor switch

It will get mega squirted soon but not yet the auto is all mechanical so not worried

manual! do what doc said and move it forward if needs be

If I did manual I wouldn't move it forward much I want as long props as possible

Efi are fine in water it's just condensation on ht side usually hot engine hits cold water forms condensation inside the dizzy the rest can pretty much be underwater and be ok for some time.

Yeah I heard that I'm not too worried for now just won't really push the deep water until I get megasquirt

Personally if you can get a shorty lt95 then that's the strongest you'll get but it's heavy!! Can be rebuild quite easy but only 4 speed. Lt77 I hate weak weak boxes yes there are stronger versions but not a fan I'm afraid! Flywheel you want a 10
Inch clutch takes more abuse offroad if you can fit it in and a sd1 flywheel lighter than std makes up for the heavier clutch assy J

In you have a price for one let me know as I have 2 normal ones here and am after an input shaft and a 101 bell housing if poss Jy

Forget doing a Dr evil moving stuff about if you can fit the gearbox on its mounts and fit the eng them that's good. Otherwise you'll be at it for ages decades even
