Who else has one that doesn't have it. Mine has ABS but no TC as apparently it was an option on pre 99 diesel manual. It has an LSD instead. Even had it plugged in and nothing says it's faulty or even fitted. Doesn't even have the TC light on the dash. Funnily enough in the owners handbook it does actually say "were fitted" which isn't in my mates 99 diesel auto's handbook and his has it.

LSD both ends or just the rear? I guess just the rear as pre 99 TC was only on the rear axle too.

I would imagine I don't have TC as I own a 95 DT dozzel, never looked to see if TC comes up on the Faultmate Screen.
Does a dozzel need it anyway, with the vast amount of power available????

LSD on a P38 axle ? Don't think so sir. Aftermarket maybee but not factory.
So my Land Rover owners manual is wrong. Silly me. According to Land Rover it has either TC or pre 99 fitted with LSD. :doh:

This came up recently.
As far as I know, all the axles are the same on P38s, with the only difference being 2 and 4 pins in the diffs.
I reckon they're referring to the viscous coupling which acts as an LSD centre diff, but they all have this so mebbe not.

I don't know but I can only go by what LR said. The build spec on mine says TC not fitted. Also spoke to a local indie and he was aware that some didn't have it but had never come across one. The term LSD is in the owners handbook and refers to markets and specific cars which didn't have TC.

It's nothing to do with having too much power, it's about what power you do have finding a wheel with traction. P38 TC doesn't cut power, it brakes a spinning wheel to transfer power across the diff to the opposite wheel.

Indeed, but what we need to establish is if you have a unique p38 with a factory LSD..... Oh and a unique handbook.

Must admit, I can't find any alternative diffs in RAVE, or mention in the handbooks but mine only go back to 98MY. I guess you could try jacking the car up one side and see if it gets drive?
In the 1997 handbook that I have it says TC were fitted and specifies LSD fitted to no TC. Having done a lot of searching on google it isn't as uncommon not to have TC as you may think. The term LSD could be a term being used as marketing jargon and that is the point of this thread.

Mine, budget spec'd 1995 DT for italian market sure doesn't have TC. As for LSD, doubt it, but I'd be pretty happy if it's true

the only lsd ive seen fitted as std to rr was in center diff of lt95 on very early models
