To make it more car like to drive some simple mods that cost very little can make a very big difference.

1) assuming it's a TD5 the first thing to do is get it chipped
2) Fit a disco transfer box
3) Fit a webasto hot air heater
4) Fit smaller steering wheel
5) VW 99 wiper relay
6) Crystal clear headlights and uprated bulbs
7) Extra lighter sockets
8) wind deflectors
9) uprated interior lights
10) rock sliders with tree bars to stop people parking tight up to the sides.

10 no one parks tight to a defender, last time some one did that to Mine I actually climbed over their car to get in my door, some achievement for a fat ginger ####

From what I have heard from others, a disco transfer box is a very good upgrade. I am strongly considering it myself soon (mine is about 25% urban but is used off road alot too) as it needs to do everything. So far mine has:

-Halogen lights
-LED side lights/brake lights
-Good sound system
-A holy amount of sound proofing
-Smaller steering wheel
-New suspension - the old set was knackered (Pretty much standard, not that lowered bollix)
-bigger intercooler
-tuned pump
-(wouldn't do the above two without an exhaust / air filter upgrade though)
- (I do like me tree / rock sliders - some bloke in a mazda fooked his door on it :D didn't even look)

All the other mods I have are off road orientated. So I wont bother to mention them. Though, I do wonder, why you'd want a Defender purely as a city vehicle. Surely that's like getting a Sportbike for trialing?

Just a thought.

Your opinion but maybe nobody gives a #### what you think

I can't understand why anyone wants a Defender just to use on the road .. Why not a proper road oriented vehicle?

Just buy some tinned mud and throw it over occasionally I guess ..

Yeah I can't understand either,

A disco would be better idea for a road orientated car as it's more civilised

Well I think he's been successfully scared off at his post count has stayed at 4 since last month. He must be sat in a dark room shivering cos he's trying to convince himself into buying a freelander. Must be like telling your wife you've been wearing her clothes and want to change your name to Sally.

1 gets rid of turbo lag and increases mpg
2 increases cruising speed and increases mpg
3 webastos don't tend to go wrong and are easy to fix. Eberspachers are more complicated and I think it's pre 2005 ones that are unreliable.
4 gives more elbow room and allows extra pies to be consumed prior to driving
5 gives a much more controlled intermittent wiper and helps prevent wheel box wear.
6 much improved night driving visibility
7 allows dash cams, hands free kits phone chargers etc to be used all at the same time
8 great for smokers and also for keeping side windows clear when raining
9 interior light is rubbish if you need to hunt for items in the back or fill out paperwork when it's dark out.
10 most people try not to park alongside defenders but when they do, they tend to park really close. It's funny watching someone fling their car door against your rock slider.

Urban tractor slam it with chrome rims and low profile tyres, limo tint for hiding your inbred relatives and a peaked cap so you can claim it is day job and not your vehicle.

think chav my ride
