I aquired my first ever Landy only 9 months ago....and I love it to bits its the greatest bestest thing I have ever bought.
Its a 2004 Discovery Td5 Pursuit.
I bought it because I have a tourer and although I don't tow all that much and the fuel costs are heavyish I couldn't care less.
But I have a problem...everytime I see someone driving a 110 I feel like I am missing out...on what I know not...I just feel drawn to them its become almost like a nagging toothache that won't go away.
So good people of Landy Zone help me with my prediciment and please give me all your for's and against's to help me make a decision.

Go to your nearest dealer and have a test drive, or phone them and try to arrange a weekend test. You'll find the disco is a lot more comfortable.

I would stick with what you've got, or get an old 110 project so you can have both.

i have gone from a 90 to a discovery both 300tdi

disco is more comfortable easier for the misses to drive she wouldnt go near the 90 and due to the longer ratios better on fuel.

It can also go nearly every where a 90 can go and is still a landy :D

You get alot more discovery for your buck, as theres more about.

Having said all that my dads got a 110 2.5 TD and altho its as slow as xmas and takes 9 men standing on the brake to stop it there is just something about it

It's a personal thing so why bother asking .. what I mean is it's up to you. I wouldn't have a 110 .. I'd have a 90 ... But then we bought a Laguna to tow the caravan with so now my Disco is going more offroad than on ... not that I worried overly anyway ... ;)

Have recently been through this myself (prob still am but dont want to admit it). Would love a 110 there is just something about the defender that appeals but being realistic the disco is the better option for my day to day driving.

The decision is all yours, do you need the comfort of the discovery for the long journeys or would you be better off with a depender and its slightly better off road capability (lets be honest theres not many owners on here that need the extra clearance and different gearing a depender can give in standard form).

If you have a disco and have been lucky enough to find a good one I would stick with it. Land Rovers appear to be a lucky dip when it comes to buying used, they can be low mileage fsh well cared for and still pop a gasket within a couple of weeks of ownership or have been around the world twice and carry on running (relatively) trouble free :)

By all accounts I do seem to have dropped on with this one and it is my everyday car, its fantastic to drive and its just flew its MOT but like with all cars you never know whats around the corner.
This project lark is tempting, but then costs are seriously going to rise.
So far though general opinion seems to be stick with the disco.....

Before I bought my TD5, I hired out a TD5 90 to collect a boat from Scotland. This was the first time I had driven a Defender. My lasting impression of this was that it was cramped, the head lights were poor, the windscreen wipers were ineffective and it was very difficult to keep the side windows and windscreen demisted.

It defo had a certain charm and I could see the benefits of the hard wearing spartan interior as my Disco takes a beating from the kids. As an every day car I think the TD5 Discovery is a much better bet. Especially everytime I stick the A/C on.

As already mentioned, a test drive is the way to go.

Cheers, Andy

Ahhhh yes the "AC"
You saying cramped has reminded me of the fact there is no elbow room in a defender...that would annoy me but no doubt I would get over it

Just my a second Landy.....then your desires are met. Ive got 2 and the Mrs wont drive either of them but like that bothers me lol.

the question you need to ask is how many 110 owners are contemplating swapping for a disco, i would bet very few would be willing to do so, whereas disco owners are allways asking if they should swap, you can say what you like but you all aspire to own a defender
