thinking of buying 110csw

got plenty of time in no rush i know dealers are a bit dearer than private .will take my time and look and test drive a few before i buy thanks but what they like towing caravan s do they shake the van to bits or are they ok cheers

You won't even know you have the van attached. You couldn't find a better tow vehicle. I've had no issues towing my pikey wagon. The only thing that lets the 110 down is its turning circle.
 
hi just joined and i am looking for info on living with a 110 this would be a second vehicle for caravaning and general bombing around to work and back .how do they perform on road towing .will it be painfully slow or will it keep up with the rest of my crew who have mitsubishis .reason for a 110 is cheaper to insure parts are cheaper not to many electrics and i can handle a spanner also own a big hammer as well. so any one tow a caravan whats it like thanks dockrat:confused:

Had me a 110 CSW since May last year and been bloody impressed with it so far. Admittedly I did spend a bit more than I was expecting to but got one which required nothing to be done to it (I have since done some stuff cos I've given it a fairly hard time so far).

I don't caravan but camping wise it's superb, I used it to take some of our club on the Freshers' Trip to the Peak District and carried 7 plus a s**t load of gear. One evening because everyone else was playing drinking games and I wanted to get a good days climbing in I decided to sleep in the back of the 110 on some bouldering mats across the bench-seats (2nd row folded down) and it was surprisingly comfortable.

Towing wise - just drive from West Wales to London (250 mile trip give or take) with ~1/2 a tonne of shotgun cartridges in the boot plus my tools, a couple of suitcases and various other odds and sods. Motorway all the way and she maintained 65 / 70 no trouble at all, even on the hills. The only thing I did notice a bit was lack of suspension (my self-levelling unit is dud) and stopping distances went up considerably.

Towed a tonne or so of radiators in a trailer and to be honest I couldn't tell they were behind it (although this was country lanes etc so didn't go much above 30).

I wouldn't change it for anything else and am going to keep it indefinitely.
 
I spent 3 months looking till I found the one I wanted on Ebay.... drove 200 miles to Heathrow to view... 1997 300tdi ex BT special vehicle with 112k and full history and a great chassis. Only has 6 seats but thats what I wanted and saves a bit on insurance. I got it for 4.8k....... I think it was a good price so don't be rushed. Cash is king!
 
do you shoot at the gamefairs .i go to weston park every year

Never shot anything but the Welsh Game Fair (always been busy at the wrong time). Have shot the Classic for the last 4 years though (netted £450 last year which I was pretty chuffed at, lost the 1,000 shells though because I couldn't stick around to the prize giving).

Might give the game fairs a go this year. In fact a friend of mine had a stand there usually so might go along with him to lend a hand and then shoot them as well.

Similar to what happened with me, spent a couple of months looking, drove from London -> Cambridge -> Coventry to view a couple in one day. Ended up going for the second one. Full history, one owner, 70k on the clock when I had it, great chassis, body and interior (two small tears on the seats). Paid a little more though (8k).
 
I bought one of a member from here; bit of a shed but that was reflected in the price. I stripped it down to the chassis and rebuilt it, and haven't looked back since. It is absolutely spot on and wouldn't have anything else for camping, knocking around in and fiddling with.
