Another day of fart-arsing about......
The good news is that the cut-off tool has arrived and looks a useful bit of kit.

My attempts at removing the body mounts from the spare floor pan were doomed to disaster as my spot weld cutters aren't long enough to get past the sides of the body mounts. I will get new mounts from YRM, as well as the floor pan strengthener. I will wait until we are sure of actual requirements.

I have spent most of the day dismantling the dash and derusting the metalwork ready for repainting.

Anyone know the colour code for the interior paint? It’s a light blue that goes with Sonar Blue trim.

Another nights work and another step sideways.... Having found a few more holes, albeit small ones in the NS door pillar, we removed the windscreen to attack it with one of my new toys - a pot blaster (which works really well). Next weeks jobs are to clean up (derust) the windscreen surround and both external A posts and Kurust and primer. I feel as if we are getting to the core of the problem now and can move forward, slowly, but steadily. :). It will involve a lot of fiddly work tho, to get it looking good again.

Looks like the rot is a little worse than I had hoped but salvageable :)

I also found a fella wearing a "Mad Hat" in the vehicle :D

Thought I had stumbled in on a KKK meeting then I realized he was sand blasting the rot :eek: :rolleyes: :D

Oh well, we will get to start welding it up soon enough.o_O
 
Another day spent shot blasting, cleaning and Kurusting..... 25Kg later..... I think the windscreen surround is now viable, or will be after a good coat of paint. Luckily we have months (at least) before the windscreen needs fitting, so the paint will have gone off nicely :).

i can recommend this one - just need better shot and a recovery system.... 25 KG used today and that dust goes everywhere, including lungs. Even with a respirator :( :eek:
 
finish isnt brilliant, but as its under the dash, I aint worried .....

There is the occasional brush bristle - from Kurusting, and sand dust that I missed. I havent flatted anything back, but I am happy as its just a protective layer - all hidden under the dash.
