More than mine did, turbo failures intercooler failure, brake problems, no electronic problems though Got rid ASAPMaybe see if I can get the Xtrail engine and box transferred into the RRS if I do decide to buy it as that has run perfectly for the last 3 years

Wow one asks a specific issue question and everyone apart from one Member thinks I'm asking for advice about buying a vehicle ! Well I'm not asking for that, so let's put the record straight,
Firstly, my "limited budget" is only with regard to how much I am prepared to pay for a car, consequently finance for running costs and maintenance won't be an issue even if it meant buying a new box et al.
I'm sure many of you will be familiar with the expression "Don't try to teach your granny to suck eggs" ....well I've been buying, driving and selling my own cars for just over 55 years and only ever bought 1 'lemon' in that time so consider myself fairly experienced.
Off the top of my head I can't remember just how many cars I've owned during that time but 3 off them were automatics, all XJ6's but as the last of those Jags was 1980 my knowledge of automatic boxes (those in the jags were Borg Warner) is now 40 years out of date. Hence my original Question.
Secondly, I currently own 2 fully functioning Xtrails, one driven by my son the other by me. I moved onto 4x4's 3 years ago for 2 reasons, those being a bit of a dodgy hip so ease of access and I photograph Motorsport events, many of which are run on former military bases which are usually located in remote areas with little or no accomodation close by. The Xtrail in conjunction with a 'caranex' provided reasonable camping accommodation, however I decided to see if an RRS or Vogue would provide me with even more space.
I hope the foregoing will now clarify things unequivocally
In conclusion I think my next question to the Membership should be "Full written instructions please on how to tie shoelaces"
Wow and I thought people were just being helpful... Would you have been just as bemused if peeps had just ignored your request instead of jumping to help?
That looks pretty rude the way you have written that.
You really are very rude..
How do you live with yourself then?I just don't suffer fools Gladly Cheerio

THE PROBLEM
The car when cold takes a while to select gears then when it’s warm it selects them ok for a while but then goes again till cool then works again. Any idea what the reason could be and possible repair solution?.
I have done some research already and one possibility could be that it requires an oil and filter screen change or could need new control block. However, I was looking for all potential causes from the more knowledgeable members on this Forum who my have come across this or a similar problem before.
Many thanks
No @marjon you're giving advice on the way forward, that wasn't my question
.......................so for the avoidance of doubt, I asked for all potential causes from the more knowledgeable members on this Forum who have personally come across this or a very similar problem before.?
Sorry wasn’t it.
Also as you never gave all details in your first post then expect others to ask some that you feel not required.
You have also not seen the car so cannot give many details either.
Do any alarms on dash come up when it does it? These cars will quite often give a clue once you see it, the list of what do you see or feel are pretty pointless it seems at this moment.
I would suggest you drive it/buy it, then come back with better info.
Oh and to say I just don’t get it, I do keep 3 LR vehicles running quite nice so I guess I do know how complicated these fine beasts can be but also with correct and up to date maintenance they can be fine to own. As many members on here know as well.
Usually the ones (like you have your sights on) have generally missed out on some of the important maintenance, so sadly fall into the very expensive band to bring back to scratch. With that said I expect you to find a few more issues too.
I will say it again because you obviously don’t see it either. Good Luck with whatever you do the LZ family might still be here to help.
