Stig!! stig!!! I can't get me welder ter weld proper!! It pops un blobs un just sorta sits on top o the metal rather than 'meltin' in to it. What settin shud it be on?

try 2 /minimum for the voltage and wire speed of 6, if it spatters to much adjust the wire speed down a bit, or if it is "burning" back on the wire up the speed slightly. this setting will do up to 1.5mm for a beginner

i have the set fer years and am on about me 300th bottle. but as i've only evver used it for steel i've nevva looked to see what %age it is.
i'll pop out after me lunch fer a look see

wot size of ally wire ave you got and do your rollers accept that size? it still will not be that succesful as the ally does not get hot enough to weld more like just blobs on surface, i have only used me mig once and that was to build up around a web on a gearbox case for some extra strength. i always gas weld ally on car body's a lot more satisfying!

when i wur in the uk i used gas but since i've bin here and no longer have me business i've just stuck with the mig. buying a small reel of ally wire was about 15euros against hundreds to get me gas up and running again. so i thought i'd give it a go. if it dint work i might nip down and get some oxy/acet

dunno ave not looked at gas stuff ovva here..yet. if this ally mig stuff dint work i might have to.. ave still got all me torches and hoses and whatnot i just int got the oxy.acet

1.5mm?! Whass that in inches?! Am on quarter inch plate.. Am guessin thass why am not avein' much luck...

1" = 25.4mm, so 1.5mm is approx 1/16" well actually 1.6mm and a bit is 1/16", but thats close enough fo home mechanics.

Dint yer old man and old lady teach you imperial stuff? When I was at Uni I was the only one on the course that could do things in "old money" as well as the new fangled SI unit thingies :D

that welder will only just do 1/4" (6mm) plate. Setting no 3 at full power wire speed at 8 at least, but the .6mm wire that your machine was supplied with will not be up to the job you need .8mm wire
