read that before being mentioned regarding fuel dilution can lead to crankshaft failure , plus changing the engine oil / filter every 6,000 miles

assume the SDV6 would suffer more with oil dilution over the earlier TDV6

Absolutely mate 6000 max, interesting also might pick up on issues during regular oil change

hi mate

many thks and must confess haven’t changed my oil for around 14 x months , only covered around 200 x miles in that time but will replace the oil in the spring

this time I’ll vacuum the oil out instead of draining it as it makes life considerably easier for me, just got to find the right size hose I need to fit onto the oil dipstick tube , will get it in clear tubing

noticed even engine oil has gone up, always get the 5-30 millers oil and for 7 x litres is around £65.00 plus filter but in fairness don’t mind spending that amount of money seeing it’s good quality oil

have been looking online to save me messing around trying to measure the engine oil OD dipstick diameter on order I can order some clear tubing

thks again

Just realised that fitting a tube on the outside of the dipstick tube to vacuum the oil out won’t work seeing the dipstixk is longer, DOH

would anyone be so kind to measure what tube they’ve used plse to get down to vacuum the oil out plse

many thks

About the same size as that aquarium stuff might do, I like to remove the sump guard then get it hot raise up and drop the oil, but I know this might be a pain for you, been running 10w 40 since June so oil change due for me too

hi mate

funny enough have one of those but simply can’t get any of the various sized tubing down the dipstick tubing

im wondering if the tubing material that’s came with it isn’t flexible enough , did think at one time of cutting the outer dipstick tube low as accessible with some mini wheel cutters allowing better access and then simply rejoining with a pushfit or compression fitting , but thought better of it in case I messed it up

have read others having success using these

there was me thinking of making life easier for myself, lol

That's the same as mine and I have no issue using it with any of mine it has x3 hose sizes they all connect together with the smallest fitting down inside the dip stick tube

same mate ref the tubes, but to be honest never thought of connecting them together as I just assumed they were for different size diameters

Many thks as I’ll check that out

I'm glad you both put this up.
As I cannot get the sump plug off my TD5 without major surgery, I remove its oil through the dipstick.
I started simply syphoning it out, which meant I literally had to leave it overnight.
Then I bought a very cheap kit to pump it out, various sizes of tubing, which works, sort of but I am forever having to strip the stupid hand pump down to make it work. But it is at least quicker.
I then looked at getting a pump that you can attach to a drill cannot remember why I didn't get it.

But it is good to get personal recommendations for a tool.
Thanks mates!:):)

Talking of easier drain off sump valves found these which hope there useful to u mate

Personally been looking at this one, apologises as don’t know what ur thread is, mine is M14 x 1.5

Like this one as it’s magnetic and has a screw in blank to prevent any risk of the oil leaking out

Amazon product
