If you use a Vac pump of any make you really want the engine to be warm so the oil is thinner otherwise you'll be there forever

That’s a great point , wondering if this will do the job plse

Then if it works to then see if I can try and swap over the drain plug that I linked above , just so then if the suction pump didn’t work it would be a lot easier for me to just hook the hose onto the drain valve

Prefer that valve seeing it has a blanking cap plus being magnetic , Just trying to attempt to make things easier

plus may I quickly pick ur brains plse , are these the items I’ll need for later on this year plse or am I missing anything or don’t need , many thks

Just thought of getting all new bolts so at least then there all new , did see there was a recall on the lower tensioner bolt snapping , at least then will have said items for the just in case as they come off the engine

Will of course get some more anti freeze , pink one I believe , pre mixed to 50/50

Apologises as I’m waffling again, lol

Upper tensioner bolt

Crankshaft bolt

Pullley bolt

Tensioner bolt

Timing cover gasket , thought seeing the timing cover will come off if I can quickly swap it over to a new one plse

Thought this makes life easier to identify what bits I’ll need to order plse

Did have a new water pump fitted last time so fingers crossed it should be ok unless it’s always best to change them every 7 x years

The pump might work but I kind of suspect it will take forever and a day
The drain valve will not work as a sump plug is very close to the under tray

Many thks and wondered that , as I was looking for pumps etc I came across this where it uses an air compressor , so I’m going to see if I can just get the blue / silver air valve on top of the extractor and fit one to mine

will be a simple set up then like blowing across the top of a bottle as it pulls the oil out with the air , just got to find the fitting

At least then it won’t cost much and should be a lot better over that small pump

Thks again

See what u mean ref the plate being near the sump, wonder if it would work by drilling a big hole in the under tray or even leaving it off

D3 tin sump, thats looks like cast alloy

Dam it as to be honest didn’t give it a thought , also looking on eBay I see what u mean now with the drain plug being near the sump plate

So think I’ll give the drain valve a miss with it being in such a vulnerable position

Will measure the dip stick as that will at least give me an indication of the size pipe I need to go down the tube

Thks again

Think 6mm od tubing is what I use, will have a measure.

I have a round hole cut in my bash plate, and I reckon there is less than 1 inch clearance between plate and drain bung.

That tin sump is miniscule, I reckon half the reason the 2.7s fail is they simply do not hold enough oil.

Many thks as that would be very helpful in what size used

Can then order some airline pipe accordingly , currently the bash plate isn’t fitted and indeed forgot the drain off was on the bottom

Also thought that looking the sump and it’s small size , hear they modified it to be deeper than the jag s type 2,7

hopefully I can get the vacuum pump to work and therefore not having to mess around with a quick drain valve eliminating the worry of any protrusion

Thks so much once again

Measured 5mm OD.

Thk u so much as that’s really helps me out
Get her hot, do not join two tubes together as for some reason you lose a serious amount of suck, balance the vac pump on the rad and pump away.
The vac pump has quantity markings on it, so put in exactly what you took out and voila level is pretty much good to go.
The ones that run off an air supply will soon annoy you and the neighbours.

Many thks and great tips ref the pipes 👍

Got some Amazon vouchers that I had for Xmas and have found a 6.5 litres combined manual / pneumatic vacuum pump so at least then gives me the option , plus making it considerably easier for myself along with not doing the quick drain valve

my air compressor is actually tucked away under the stairs and have a long 3/8” hose so can just start it up in situ and run the hose out to the D3 on my drive , leave the front and back door open to prevent any fumes from building up with the cross air ventilation

Engine oil wise will order millers again ref 5/30 know some have gone over to 5/40 but would prefer to stay with the same grade , will go for the middle one

As always am so grateful for ur continued help

I think that is bloody expensive, have a search on ebay Mannol 7715.
Compare the Mannol specs to the Millers and let us know.

Many thks

Must confess Have been getting that oil for around 3-4 years and to be honest didn’t think it was to bad price wise,

So just looked up the Mannol 7715 and says it’s not compatible , just searching on the Mannol web site

Well bugger me I had better tell my engine that sad news!

Find the Acea code off the millers and see if Mannol do one to the same spec, I bet they will and it will be cheaper.
