Td5 defender rough running at slow speed

Defender td5 runs like a pig when trying to go slow particularly when offroad, it feels like the turbo just wants to spin all the time and pull you forward but you end up kangarooing.

Out on an open road it's great as pulls like a train, but difficult to keep it steady slow.

Did a few turns on the actuator rod and doesn't seem much difference, map has been cleaned, maf has been unplugged but no difference. Any help or should I just head to someone to remap it?

Thoughts?

Not to teach you to suck eggs but you do know the TD5 has a little feature called "anti stall"?

I had a similar problem at low idle speeds, try a purge on the fuel system, might have an air lock, mine did this after swapping the fuel filter housing etc, do it a few times and it might clear it, and clean the MAF sensor too while your at it. Best of luck

Its more noticeably offroad when trying to crawl.
Anti-stall - No I dont know about it.

read some more features on here and sounds like the mapping with early TD5 and the throttle position - giving different maps when in high and low range. Never needed to run in low to date but will give that a try first.

The anti stall feature is there to help you get moving. I believe it is controlled by throttle input from the ECU but im happy to be corrected.

basically the ecu will apply a small throttle input when at low revs. Like in my daily driver(audi a4) if i simply dont put my foot on the accelerator while in gear and moving then the car will eventually stall as is with every other 'normal' car.

If your in first hi and off road and you want to go really slowly you wont be able to, as the ECU will input a drive to the engine on your behalf. You need to put it in low box to go even slower.

Anti-stall is a truly brilliant feature that means you dont have to feather the accelerator and potentially stall when either pulling a heavy load or when facing a steep uphill where you may have to slow down or accelerate to get over an object.

I also love it for slow moving traffic. Especially if you have the displeasure to be stuck anywhere London or on the M25.

Anyway, go and put it in low box 1st gear and try it again, you will be able to go much much slower.
