You can run the engine fine with the egr unplugged via the vacuum pipe, I have done for nearly 8yr with no affect on the engine even with the mot's carried out.
It could well be a sticking Axel in the fip pump. There is a big magnet surrounding the throttle axle in the pump and debris can collect on it and jam momentarily.
On mine it occasionally does not respond to the pedal, I bang the pedal down a few times and it'll come back to life... This may not be your problem but there a few of us that have had this.
There is also the turbo waste gate that could stick but this is activated by itself and there are no outside electronic influences but if it was sticking it would either stick at cold temps, hot temps or stick all the time. 🤔
The problem is when it's completely intermittent it's a real barstool to track down🤯

Okay, gotcha. Yeah EGR unplugged is doing nothing, had hose to it off to check for signs of exhaust passing anyway which was clear. Replaced the vacuum solenoid for it as I had one, did nothing. I even tried unplugging No4 injector, weirdly the engine ran smoother, but still now power.
I cleared out the pipe to the MAP sensor, it had some oil in there which I cleared out, but unfortunately no change.

I'll try massaging the waste gate, but I'm quite confident at this point it is just another duff FIP from CN4X4. Which is unfortunate.

I hope it's not the pump, a lot of refurbs are just reseal and sell. Over here it's around 3k€ for a fully rebuilt pump🤯

That's what this appears to be, going to reach out to a place in Bristol (DTM I believe) that can refurb them, average price seems to be 800-1000, some parts are unobtanium though, so if they are broken the pump is for the scrapper.

Gotcha, so unplug it and it should resort to a default map? I'll give it a go and see how it gets on.

Although chatting with a guy who does diesel work, he has suggested the fact I've had 2 pumps blow seals in short order (3 if you count the original), send the injectors away for servicing as it isn't uncommon for contamination in the injectors to build up too much pressure in the pump that blows the seals. I always assumed they had pressure relief valves to protect from that but assumption is a dangerous game. Obviously I still need to get it on a scanner which I'll try to get sorted tomorrow, just to make sure I aren't ****ing into the wind.
