Stripped the Transfer box down today and took the brake and clutch peddle assembly off the bulk head.

I was hoping to have a good day outside but it was raining for most to the day.

tomorrow i will have a good day stripping more of the bulkhead down.

All of the aluminium engine parts have blasted well. Still need to do the bell housing and the rear of the gearbox.

Are you going to keep the original gear ratio or change to disco ratio? You probably know this already but make sure you put in a cross drilled input gear unless it already has one.

Hi Payydg hope you are well.

Im keeping the 1.4 ratio and the input gear has holes and fits on the splines nice. I will also be fitting the uprated cross pin in the centre diff.

Hi all.

I had a good day on the Landy.

All the panels are off and in the garden now lol and the rear tub is now ready to lift.

Still bit on the bulkhead but soon i will send that to be acid striped

Was proper gutted on Friday when i found to that my chassis wasn't coming for another week as the curriers work every other Saturday.

All good thanks mate, you're really ploughing on with this. I did the same, bit of peace of mind re: the diff. When you take the old one out you'll see the new one is a lot stronger and a totally different design. Saying that the main reason for centre diff failure is shoddy driving (i.e. wheels spinning with no traction) and with careful driving the standard diff is more than adequate... apparently. I also fitted a steel bush for the intermediate gear shaft, for longevity. Worth checking on your box it hasn't started to wear oval.

I opted to change the ratio to the disco gear ratio on the basis that over-landing you often do long miles on reasonable roads and wanted better fuel economy.

I have thought about the Disco ratio but im happy with how my Landy drives so im going to stick with it.

Yes i am going to send my trans case to aschcrofs on exchange to have a steel bush fitted. Mine does feel ok but for £80 plus the shipping i feel the bush is the right way to go.

This week in the evenings after work im going to start striping the gearbox.

Cheers for the positive input i appreciate and respect your opinion.

100%, once you've got it apart you might as well future proof it.

Nice, what’s the chassis treatment plan?
Morning pal.

The plan is to degrease,T-wash etch prime and then Corroless top coat in black.

I will be using a brush and roller because i don't want to pump the house full of over spray and fumes LOL

Nice, for some reason I opted to paint mine after it was fitted to the vehicle. Not recommended. Glad to hear you're decision making is better than mine.

I now have a fully painted chassis!!!

In this photo you can see the quality of the fabrication is very good.
