Strange noise from inlet manifold

No just degreased then cleaned it up with a wire wheel in the grinder, sprayed it with 2 coats of red oxide then 4 coats of Nato satin black as I had a litre in my garage just asking to be used. The front half of the chassis looks brand new as you can see in the piccies. No real rot was found just minor surface rust which was reassuring. The LR applied rustproofing seems to have been doing its job.

May have to do that myself :) Looks brand new!

It lives !!!!
Got the new engine all connected up between rain storms and gale force winds.
Purged the fuel system and she fired right up. No leaks, no dramas.

Took her round the block a few times and still no problems. I've dialled the turbo down a tad which I'll leave for the first 500 miles just so I can't give it too much stick until the rings and bearings bed in a bit.

Other than that I'm very chuffed.

Just got to get the injectors coded and the jobs a good 'un.

Nice one shifty.:)

Update.
Thanks to Ratty's offer I borrowed his Nanocom and coded the injectors. Cant say I noticed any real difference but at least I cleared the fault log on my ECU. Thanks Ratty the beer is on ice.
The new engine has done 260 miles now and the last 20 were towing a trailer with a ton or so of ballast. No problems and plenty of torque even with the turbo turned down to 0.75 bar max until I've run it in a bit. The engine runs really nice and after it warms up sounds like a sewing machine. Its a bit rattly when first firing but I dont have the acoustic covers fitted which might explain it.
The plan is to do 1000 miles then change oil and filters before winding the turbo up to my preferred setting of 1.2 bar max.
Thanks for all your help and encouragement.
Now I've got to pay for it all but work is picking up so hopefully things will get back to normal quite soon.
Cheers.

Good stuff, glad its running as it should. I just logged on and thought ffs you have no luck, read half the thread (after a bottle of red) and realised the date and I had already read it. I was at Wraysbury, 3 weeks ago picking up my latest 1997 110. No pie shops so went home via Bristol. Glad you are sorted.
