It is the same with mine... At the moment it is probably worth £100 to other people... But to me it is worth so much more.. Has been in the family since new and my Dad has owned it since i was born... Means alot

So to clear up on the case so far. Martync had his 90 stolen on the 14th of February. It is now the 23rd of march, and belongings of his which were in the vehicle the night it was stolen have been dumped in a water filled ditch over night and discovered almost immediately afterwards by an anonymous tipster. The anonymous person who notified the school where he works as Deputy Head claims that the "fly tipped" property was not there the day before. Also, more property was found on the other side of the ditch, behind a hedge in a field. This leads me to a couple of thoughts:

1) The objects left in the water filled ditch may have acted as a marker for an area where the thieves might return to recover the seat covers or any other property of value that they found in the vehicle. But then again, if they kept the vehicle, why would they have been so desperate to rid it of any of Martync's possessions? Surely this points towards the vehicle undergoing a quick face lift, or an immediate sale / swapping of hands ready to go back into immediate action with the vehicle looking genuine, rather than something which has been stolen the night before. But why have the items only turned up now???

2) The anonymous tipster found the property in a WATER FILLED ditch within 24 hours. By my reckoning, it can't be such a coincidence that a person happens to be walking down a lane looking into a water filled ditch for rubbish. Whats more, a majority of the property would have been hidden or damaged by the water and it's also likely that there was lots of rubbish spread across the entire length of the ditch, not necessarily just Martync's possessions, so why report them?

My first port of call would still be to return to the ditch where the property was found and scan the area a little further and harder to look for more evidence. Keys, lock barrels, tools used to break into the vehicle etc. The thieves (if the tipster's story is reliable) have dumped that property over night, including items (like seat covers) of presumably some value. Why would they do that? They haven't been thrown from the car, they've been collected and dumped strategically. Seat covers, if thrown from a vehicle would have landed in the ditch, not traveled further afield, over a hedge and into the neighboring field. Unless ofcourse it was very windy. It's all just too suspicious.

You need to find out who the person was who informed the school. Can the number be traced through telephone bills? Someone will know what time the person called, and may have possibly even taken some details. Something is starting to make sense here. I don't quite know what but there's something bloody funny about it. As if it's been organised and the people who have done it are getting a kick out of teasing you. Do you know any one who has a small industrial unit in the area, or perhaps a farm / shed or garage big enough to house a land rover? Anyone who you usually associate with who has been acting a little out of character or who hasn't been socialising with you as often as usual, or even perhaps a little more often than usual?

Had a very very expensive mountain bike pinched once, managed to get it back with a bit of detective work on my half and a little help from the police once i knew where it was.

Don't give up is what i'm saying, it'll be around somewhere.

Google maps is ur friend at this point, go on satellite view and see what farms/warehouses/yards there are near where your stuff was dumped, research anywhere that may look like a storage place with other cars.

Advertise your reward locally, once they know you mean business on getting it back they'll crap themselves and may even dump it somewhere as a hell of a lot of things in ur landys engine are traceable. When i say advertise it, posters, write to ur local paper saying how disgusted u are, ALL the forums u know. Wherever you can basically.

I still feel that this aint over yet...someone apart from martyn obviously, wants this found...it all seems a bit fishy with the discarded items and the phone call. See Mints post re the landy on ebay that got pulled...maybe kosher, who knows, still feel its someone who knows him.....

I've been doing some looking around on Google Earth, and between the area that your vehicle was stolen from (presumably your home) and the area where your property was found earlier today? There is a farm with a few large sheds and one or two smaller sheds. Interestingly enough, the road that leads to this farm (where your property was found), is between the area that your landy was stolen from and a main road, so if it's not gone very far, the thieves will have stuck to quiet local roads. If the thieves or someone who is doing some work on behalf of the thieves knows you, the property might have been a subtle hint. Check the entire length of the road. If you can find just one more signle piece of disregarded property (no matter what) on either side of the road, in either direction of that farm. Get up the track and pretend you're lost. Just generally have a good look around and see if there are any private companies etc. renting the sheds. You might also ask if they know someone who repairs or recovers vehicles. It looks like they have a flatbed with an hydraulic arm ;)

i,m goin back a few years now but there was a bloke that lived in kings norton who used to break landies out in the sticks towards hopwood area, dunno if he was legit (allways advertised bits in the free ads)or what but his place was just a field over the road from a farmhouse

We're getting somewhere then. I've also just had a really deep dig around into the feedback of the seller of 1996 LAND ROVER 90 DEFENDER TDI GREEN on eBay, also, Land Rover Range Rover, Cars, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 24-Mar-09 20:17:05 GMT)

There are one or two people who have "supposedly bought" landy bits from him but they have no feedback, as if they're accounts he has set up himself or people he knows that he uses to bump up the prices of items that he is selling. TDI Decals and a tubular winch bumper are just a couple of items he's sold as far as I can see, but it looks like there's more. Check it out

I was just laying in bed trying to sleep and I've had a brain wave. Did or did you not say that the number plates had been abandoned in the ditch too? There's not a cat in hells chance that the thieves would have driven around with no plates on for the obvious reason that its blatently suspicious. They won't have taken the plates off in the middle ofnthe night anyway, who's going to question who is driving it? Those plates have been taken off and dumped after it was taken somewhere in that area just on the off chance that if anyone did see it, they couldn't recognize it as being yours. It's close to home Martync and it's someone local

Can I suggest that further detailed discussions on this topic are done via pm, the reason being that anyone could be reading this fred and if someone is getting a perverse kick out of taunting Martyn, or if indeed, he's closing in; they could use info gleaned from here to help them stay one step ahead!
I'm all for helping find her, but keeping what you know from the thieves is important! ;)

I have already had theft in 3 local newspapers, the story was on a local radio station and one free paper even printed a photo for me, I have tried to make sure that everyone who knows about my car also knows about the reward, I sort of feel the people on here didnt need the incentive of a reward to help me find my car - but general members of the public may just keep an eye open a bit more if money is involved.
