Only slightly envious, weather has been dire here and I have 0 enthusiasm for going outside at all, it was as much as could do to muster the will to head out for groceries

You're getting there, bit by bit, that BH looks pretty sorry for itself though

I know new ones are way out of the price range but I really do think there is a market for someone to press vent repair panel sections, that is such a common rot spot, if I had a 100T hot press in the garden I would knock out a 100 or so and see what interest there was, tooling will be expensive though

Yeah very strange how you can get outside but not inside. I could get 2 more outsides and just mirror them but that's a lot of expense for that. My way isn't the best way from rust perspective but it works and I'll seam seal it all and cover those joins in wax. I had those sections aside to do my disco floor edges but it's only cheap 1.2mm gear

I did spend the day there but it looks like I've done f all lol. Atleast I have a method though. Mate the yrm bulkhead feet and the door posts are so nicely made

I bought some a looooong time ago for my series 3 when I did some repairs on that, can't remember who made them TBH but they were really good back then too, bulkhead outriggers and rear front spring hanger and body mount outriggers were BritPart if I remember correctly, also some very well made parts back then.

YRM must make their money selling boat loads with low margins because I think they put a lot of effort into making super nice parts that are relatively cheap.

Very little progress as of late. I had that day up the farm but that was about it. Will be fairly busy over Christmas (aren't we all).

My next step is locating the suspension mount holes on my new section of chassis. I think when its dry I'll put fresh string lines in and try and mock up a template for location.

I did plan to use new crush tubes but may deox existing. This is due to the fact they are all connected so if I get 2 holes lined up the third should lane right!

I've just been watching a few more videos - Tacoma rebuilds (yank hilux) as they rot in similar place to mine. A lot of this yank stuff doesn't even use box chassis and uses almost I beams instead??

A little quick sketch I just did in regards to strengthening over my joints. All will be 2mm.

I've got a screaming/crying/sh1tting bundle of joy to halt my progress, what's your excuse

Them fish plates look like a nice design, big holes in there for you to run internal beads around I presume?

If you like a good chassis repair then have a look at the Nissan Navara's they like to snap just behind the cab in front of the rear axle swan neck

I'm looking at a local corner unit of 450sq/ft with a roller shutter door and 3ph electric but they won't budge on £600/month +VAT +rates +utilities  I can rent ex council lockups for £200/month but no power and too far away from home :(

I was looking when I had jap stuff. If you were closer I would've gone halves

That's a pricey unit
Unsure of the size but I can fit my 7.5t lorry & Landrover & open doors/ramps. Plenty room around this. this works out £350.
Floor space is 7 meters by 6 meters with a WC & office in an attached lean too and includes a 20 foot shipping container for external storage but that's just mental money for what it is, unless of course he wanted to price me out of wanting it? But I will keep looking for now

I must admit, everything is cheap in Swindon, even the wammins only needs 1 not 2 Bacardi Breezers

HBC has a waiting list for actual council owned units so they told me and the only ones I could find were in Portsmouth and privately owned for rent.
