I loikes battle ship grey :)

I wanted something that showed up leaks but didn't want a bright colour. Cliche but I want a militant feel to the disco. I was planning a drab enamel for the exterior one day but am tempted to raf blue now. I hope this paint dries harder after a bit of time though! I flipped the axle when I got in and painted the other side

I really do want a s3 to do next. I think I'm bitten . Even they are making good money now though. I keep telling myself the disco is the right vehicle for the exploring though. It's got the room and comfort but still the simple lump

Don't think I'd ever go back to Series or Defenders after having done so much off roading in a Discovery, so much comfort and versatility, the off road ability is, as always, only as good as the guy behind the wheel ;)

I have been mighty tempted by a 101 I must admit :cool::cool::cool:

Your right though. Once the disco is built it's the perfect versatile machine. I can get out exploring, fishing and do miles without my ears ringing. Need to get that chassis finished. That's the bit that's Pickering my head. Get that plates and the new spring mount on plus the tank cradle bracket and chassis will be on home straight

@flat has a gorgeous little ex-mil 90, I recently saw a 6X6 Carmichael Range Rover fire tender, think it was ex-RAF, really got my juices flowing :)

Aah thanks :D

It small, and light so mkes it nimble. The only other things I would do to it would be a clutch booster and auto lockers on both axles. I think it would be supremely good then.

No just a rag top GS (general service) gun tractor, that one has an under slung centre winch that goes out the front on a snatch block with a rotating double pulley fairlead and single line out the back, was a bit grotty inside and a bit out of my realm of "acceptable" price range, bearing in mind it would need a ground up rebuild before it was safe and reliable.

I've never owned one of these. The equivalent I owned was one of the cage light bulbs on a clip. Wow has time moved on. This was on offer in wicked for 20 quid with the perfect name. @dieseldog69 has given me the kick I need. Here's to welding in the dark. I'm not afraid of cold. Just rain when welding lol.

@dieseldog69 has a magnetic lamp - brill for working on cars.

get an LED one if you can. those that take a 500w bulb get pretty bloody hot and when in close proximity to flesh...........

This is led and brighter than my work head torch which lights up the whole of the m5 :D:D:D

I thought if I wear that when on my car it will look the chopper is out looking for grow houses when i accidently shine in people's windows

LOLZ grow houses :D

If I didn't have so much to do on mine I would have come up and give you a hand for a morning to help enthuse you a little more, drink your tea and pet your dog :)

That lamp is great, I saw that in Wickes near me last week but decided to get another one of the Faithful ones as they're amazing!!!

My sparky mate recommended faithful. It's ok I've actually gained a bit of enthusiasm after realising I need to get in gear.

New light is brilliant. Last weld was dogs muck lol. So I blew through on a corner and naively dialed down the welder a touch. Wrong move. There's not adequate penetration. This hasn't killed the vibe at all- it's actually reinforced the fact that I know what I need to be set on for the right penetration and shouldn't have turned it down.

I trust no strength is taken from either my patch or parent metal if I just grind back down and buzz through on corr3ct setting?
