spring compressors?

Unless fitting a massive lift I can't see the need for spring-compressors, I have certainly never needed them with standard & HD springs.
Jack-up & support the chassis, remove the wheel, lower the axle on a jack (watch those brake-lines), remove the shock and the spring will just pull out.

Easy job.:)
 
As said before about not needin' spring compressors and jackin' up and supporting the chassis etc;)

Dont forget to have a couple o' new turret rings as there's every chance ye'll break thum tryin' to get thum off!

The rear ones are even easier... and ye don't need new rings fur them. Might be an idea to check the condition of the spring seats on the axles as well;):D

Nae wurries;) It really is quite simple (apart from the hassle of shifting stuff to get at the top of the shocks). The only probs ye might have is removing the top nuts on the front shocks and possibly the bottom nuts on the rears. Give them a guid soakin' in GT85 / wd40 etc and leave for a wee while.
If ye look at the ends pokin' out past the nuts, ye should see a couple of wee flat bits, try stickin' a set of adjustables or summit on these to hold the shocks while takin' the nuts off...

Failing that, cut or split the nuts off.

Another thing to remember is, when takin' the washers / bushes etc off is place them out the way they came off....

Photos are text-book, that is exactly as I do it and there are no problems whatsoever.:D

If you can't stop the front shocks turning due to corrosion of the bottom thread then there is a quick & easy way to remove them but is usually damages the shock however this won't be a problem if you are changing them for new.
Extend the spring, fit a ring-spanner to the bottom nut and then use a pair of Stilsons through the extended spring to turn the shock body, very easy and 100% success with no faffing around. If wanting to keep the shock and the threads are corroded, good luck!!!
