Some Tw*T just ran into me.

I have checked with both Paddocks and Craddocks and the parts /\ /\ above are the body to chassis cross members, NOT the part I want.

I have been told by both of them that you can't get that part (NEED A COMPLETE CHASSIS) or find a scrap chassis and have it plasma cut out and re-welded back on to mine.

Cheers Simon

According to my MicroCat It's a "Crossmember rear Lower"

item no. 14. Though I have to admit I have always been led to believe it wasn't available as a seperate part.

Hi Simon,

If i am correct, did it happen on the wobaston rd opposite the fordhouses cricket club?
That road is one of the worst in wolverhampton for bad driving. Every time i go down there, which is very often, i come across all manner of bad driving. the amount of times i have nearly been hit by people not paying attention, or had people endangering life by overtaking when there is oncoming traffic is unreal. The worst part is the stretch between the island and the midshires business park. I am at a point with it all that i am considering making a complaint to the council, suggesting that they take a look at that road. I hope your claim gets settled soon.

Phil.

I can sympathise, I have just been and picked my 300tdi up from the body shop after someone drove into the front drivers side wing and knocked me through a wall. No structural damage, just made a mess of body work. It was in for five weeks but they have done a good job, even down to replacing the 'special vehicle' decals on both wings (it is a commercial). I was worried about it being written off as the quote was £2300 but luckily they fixed it!

Now i have the bank holiday to reacquaint myself the joys of owning a land rover!

Just to add, the replacement car I got whilst it was in the garage was a ford fiesta! Not really like-for-like, but a lot cheaper to run!

Yes mate that is correct, it was the Wobaston Road just outside the cricket club.
And you are correct there are hundreds of idiots driving up and down that road every day. I have see many accidents along there, but never thought I would ever be involved in one (HOW WRONG I WAS)
Where abouts are you from are you a local in the area? If you are I will have to look out for you.

what reg is it? my 94 tdi es set me bk 1800 on ebay if that helps any?

Mine is a 1996 N-reg with 136k miles on it, WAS in very very good condition, lol.

Hi Simon, I'm really glad you found this crossmember, sorry for steering you in the wrong direction earlier.

Hi Simon,
I live on Perton. My brother in law lives in Ashfield Rd, and yes he too drives a Disco!!

Phil.

UPDATE...

It has been 2 1/2 weeks now and still no further forward, insurance are dragging there feet and havn't given me a proper decision yet.
Either...
a) Repairable via insurance
b) Write off TOTAL LOSS (Cat c or d)
c) Write off Payment and keep car with money for myself to repair.

Such a long winded thing to get involved in, been driving for 17 yars and this is the first ever accident I have been involved in, so are they taking the **** or is this normal?

Grrrrrrrrr

P.S. Then again still got the hire car :)

From my experience, when someone drove into me just before Christmas and obviously wrote the disco off, it took them about 5 weeks before they made me their first very low offer! Took about 12 weeks in total to finally settle the claim.
