I am suppost to be going on holiday Whi-week, towing a caravan, grrrrrr.

Not very happy at all, how am I going to go on holiday now?

Hi Simon, I know it's a bit of a long shot, but how about replacing the towbar (assuming the fuel tank isn't ruptured), just for your holiday??

If you could get the bumper off, you could sledge hammer it back into some sort of shape.

Just a temp repair you understand, to go on hols with.

Cheers
Dave

that is virtually the same damage as when yella hit me wiv his series, i was able to straighten everything out in a day (no insurance involved).

Price up the parts, and see if your insurance company can get the other parties insurance to pay for them, then you can keep you Landy, new bumper, and tow bar would be easy enough to fit, the towbar loom can be replaced which would sort your lighting issue.

What other parts do you think you need?

Hows you Stig? CharlesY still hasn't worked out what hes doing with that disco we came and got. I could stick a Defender on it, one of those 100inch jobs.

Speaking of yella where is he these days?

just take off the 2 bars that bolt through the chassis rails, tie a rope to the tow hitch and fasten to something permanent drive forward, once the tow ball mtg plate is vertical then straighten the lower 2 brackets/bars to suit and re-attach, this all that i did with mine and it pulled the central section of the chassis back in line.

If the rear crossmember (the bit the bumper is bolted to) is bent, it will mean a right-off, not easy to repair, even if it's just corroded. Check boot floor and where rear seats are bolted down, bet it's buckled there!

This is a sort of drawing I have done of how the rear cross member behind the bumper has twisted.

Lol, i also own a FRENCH car ;-) , just got rid of a Citreon C2 and my wife drives a Citoren C3.

If it is written off, should I go for another Disco 300Tdi or a Rangy 2.5 P38??

It depends on how much unreliability problems you want - if you get bored just driving the Disco, get a P38. That'll keep you REALLY busy ;) :D ;)

If they let you buy it back easiest thing to do with it would be to cut the buckled centre section out Hydraulic ram to spread the chassis legs back into line and a new section or a length of 5mm Box section welded back into the gap where the buckled section was cut away. wouldn't take a garage more than a couple of hours to sort it out. Oh and you'll probably need a replacement tank.

Morning all.

Christ my neck and shoulder is stiff and aching this morning.

Think I will have to rest today.

This is my first ever accident I have been involved in as a Driver in the 17 years of driving, and this morning I feel depressed and well PI$$ED off.

How am I going to get to work on Monday, can't get a hire car until I can speak to the insurance companies involved.

I would just go ahead and hire a car anyway and put in a claim for uninsured lossses. If your insurance refuses to pay for it. Also when they supply the courtesy car make sure it's an equivalent vehicle you own a disco so they need to supply another 4x4. Especially if your going to be able to tow your caravan.

From the way you say your stiff ;) It sounds like you'll have to take time off work as well So make sure you claim for loss of earnings and then theres the emotional trauma you've suffered. ;) ;)

Been in contact with insurance today, my Disco has been collected ready for assessment.
I have also been to the Doctors and have been signed off work for a week with inflamed neck muscles, looks like a claim is on its way for injury and loss of shiftpay.
And my insurance company has arranged for a loan car, this got delivered today ;-)
