Damn it I knew someone had my ideal disco lol...

Very nice. I like the lift, the wheels and the fact that you have taken your time on the detail for no other reason than you like to.

Mines a 3 door 200TDI with 113k on the clock. Just starting to modify it now after using it standard for quite a while. I will use yours as inspiration if thats OK.

Very nice and well done!!

Very nice! Want mine to look like that eventually ;D

I saw a GIANT disco drive past me at the weekend. The bottom of the body sat higher than the top of the wheels. How is that possible :-o

Any idea what the lift/price scale is? Is it just buy a sus/spring kit and lift it then bung massive wheels on or what?

basically mate yeah. longer springs and big tyres and it'll look the same.

but getting it to work is where the time and cost comes in!

for instance, theres a whole lot of cutting youre gonna have to do to get enough clearance, and ideally body lift it aswell.

youre gonna need longer brake pipes, extended dampers, modified propshafts and some kind of axle realignment to get it working properly again.

foir instance, i spent £700 on the suspension kit, thats springs, dampers, brake pipes, front arms, rear arms, bump stops and full polybush, fittings etc.

that made up a 3" lift kit that was pretty much all inclusive.

i have 33" tyres with the 10" wheels, and even with as much cutting as i can manage i still get a small amout of rub - but thats acceptable.

propshafts are a dear do, ideally you'll want a td5 front prop and thats 100 second, 230 ish new. rear wide angle prop, expect about 150 new.

there's probably a **** load of stuff that ive done and forgotten about also!

hi mate, cheers

yeah youve gotta spend the time on the details to make the car stand out from the crowd :D

ive come from the jap car scene where its all about making the car look trick but purposeful at the same time - i guess thats why the disco is so full of useful but unnecessary ****! :D

yeah man a 200tdi 3 door is the perfect disco in my opinion, thats why ive got a 5 door v8 :D :D

tbh i didnt actually chooose this car, it was lying around at work for ages and it just kinda slipped into place.

i LOVE the v8 motor despite all its negatives, and yeah a 5 door is handy for rear access on greenlaning weekends etc, but the 3 door is better for off road mods, simply because you can get more rear arch clearance.

and im sure the diesel is better off road too. as i said though, having a big truck with a v8 roaring through the town centre is just the biggest grin, so im happy :)

youre lucky though cos you can run it on chip fat for free, its costs me so much wedge to run it i can only usually afford one weekend outing per month! (gives me time to fix it though)

and yeah mate no worries, id like to think that my time spent messing about in the garage at 3am has been well spent, start a thread up with your progress and lets see how youre getting on.

im always willing to help, stops me going on ebay :D

cheers

yeah its a hefty bit of kit innit

ive been wanting foir ages but the £££ put me off, but after the lack of bumper caused me this whole problem in the forst place, there was no way i was going to let it happen again, so it was time to be skint again!

I had a V8 earlier on , in fact I have had nothing but V8's since I was 19 - some 23 years ago - god how time flies. Everything from early SD to A8's and then the last three discos were V8's. A 200 a 300 and then a D2. Love the rumble and the sheer sound through built up areas.

The diesel is the first and brought a simple 200 just because there is bugger all to go wrong. Then again I have just put in a new clutch.

Starting a thread? well I may just need to get some pics first as she is standard and it takes me a month to save all my pennies up for each mod :( Im not as rich as I used to be - Kids you see :)

Thank you for your effort and I will certainly keep in touch and plot your progress.

Cheers

yeah the td5 prop has a double joint at the transfer box end, so it can take much wider angles and also is more forgiving to vibration etc if it is running slightly out of line. well worth it, cos stock props on lifted cars only last so long.

the bumper came from a man named carl in wigan. pm me if you need any more info.

cheers

Bumper was custom, £300 quid. More are available!

Coming together now!

Ordered 5ltr olive drab last night :)

Do really like this truck. What makes me chuckle is when I look at how mint yours is and then see how rough mine looks and realise there both the same age lol.
Forgive my stupidity but which colour is olive green?

hi mate

well, cheers :)

tbh it is a bit of minter yeah, but that's because:

it was bought standard off an old guy so it was nice in the first place

i do try to look after it when off road, i'll drive aroun the damaging bits cos its not worth it without a cage

and i have rubbed down and reapinted everything underneath, which frankly is just to keen!

olive drab is the british army colour mate, so i can go and hide in the woods and nobody will know im there. just wont be able to start it up :D

cheers, lol.

Amazing looking disco mr noisy, definately inspiring me to put the effort into mine, my mates are always saying just take it offroad and sink it in mud, but personally coming from the modified car scene myself I want it to look nice aswell as being good offroad so i'm taking my time and doing all the little things that make it look nice. I'm rubbing all the underneath down and undersealing it. Just wish I had a workshop so I could spend the rainy days and late nights messing with it, i only have evenings and weekends to play and only if the weather is ok :-(

keep up the good work.

Yeah Jason has to be said mate a workspace is a godsend, would never have been able to tackle this vehicle without somewhere decent to work in til all hours.

Fish:
