As been looking for a suitable 2nd hand intercooler, but they all have the connections one at each side, so a lot of pipework will be needed, and really need them to be on the back to fit better, like in your pic.

The only full width intercoolers for the 300tdi that I'm aware of are designed in the same way as the one shown in the pic.
Mine is an Allisport version. I believe Allard do one too.

You definitely shouldn't have to mess about with altering pipework though, as these are designed to fit straight in place with no modifications whatsoever.

Yeah, found both of those types - £400.00 odd quid, whereas can get a one with connections on eitherside for under £100.00 - just means a lot of pipe work - but where's the fun in buying something thats fits first time...;)

what did you do with your fan setup - as looking to overhall the front end and might switch to electric if I get it all done - been told a mondeo fan works well

Just need to get the old viscous fan off tho - anywhere best to get the spanner from?

To be honest, if your viscous is working as it should then I'd stick to that. I left mine on.
You'll def need to take it off to make life easier for any rad or intercooler work you do though.

This is about as cheap as you'll get one:

Hello,
I have a 1995 model. It does not have the green disc with Bosch on it (shown to the right in your photo). I just tried the mod. I turned the smoke screw 1.5 turns, the diaphram and the cog about 100 degrees clockwise.
Engine started up fine (good start), I drove it up my long driveway, too smokey. Turned the smoke screw back 0.5 turn and less smoke. I'll take it out on the road later to see if its got more power.

Hello,
On my Australian compliance 1995 disco auto tdi I carried out the fuel mods suggested and today took it on a 300km very torturous trip with many valleys and hills mostly with 100km/hr speed limits including up a mountain. I found that the mods have make a difference, the feel of the vehicle is slightly different, seems more torque at low revs but its very subjective. Trying to do 100km/hr up a steep mountain and keep up with the rest of the traffic is still just as impossible in top gear as ever, and I still have to drop to 3rd and be happy with 80km/hr at about 3000 rpm.
When my exhaust pipe SS extender arrives from the US, I will chop off the end muffler leaving the middle still in place but thats about as far as I want to risk it. Noise laws are quite strict here (same as California).

I've done the fuel mod and it worked well, so how do I increase turbo boost, as the Australian models don't have the ECR valve? Its blanked off (see attachement photo).

Thought I'd add some pics of the EGT fitment to the 300 tdi.

Turned out like a bought one. The digital display is programmable and has a programmable setpoint relay output.

I thought i'd also add some pics of how the boost pressure gauge turned out. I would have liked to have fitted a rectangular programmable digital display, but as the human brain responds to an analogue display better for quick changes. I ued an 'Autogauge' stepper boost gauge so I did not have to run a pneumatic tube into the cab. Instead, an electronic sender is connected at the inlet manifold and an electrical wire is run to the gauge in the cab. It has an alarm light. In this case I bought the wrong model as it has the alarm up at 1.5Bar. I don't think it is adjustable but there is a trim pot on the back but they won't tell me what its for.
You can see the 10mm plug at the rear of the inlet manifold.
As it has a 1.5mm thread pitch, its difficult to buy an adaptor with 1/8" male barbed fitting. I ordered brass fittings from USA, drilled a hole down the existing steel plug and silver soldered the brass fitting to it. Works great.

So, after a month of driving with all the extra power I've finally settled back to driving normal and fuel consumption is really good, the run I do every week to work and back used to cost me £40 in diesel but now I'm only using £35 for the same run! :D:D:D

Would this work on a '94 200tdi manual? Cheers.

If its got edc which I don't think 200tdi's did,the pump is controlled by an ecu so you can't manually adjust it.
If the pump is the same as the one shown at the start of this thread you will be able to adjust it.
