So other than picking up the engine yesterday I also picked up this in order to change the front end of my series over :)

Going to blank off the lights on the old wings and smooth over before painting then relocate the side and flashers at the top of the wings like they should be on a 2

Gonna take a long time this build I think

But

I have faith that the vision is there

And I think when it's done it'll be far more serious a piece of kit than LZ has seen before, more a hot rod than a land rover

Restecp.

At £175 inc vat for a brand new Dana 80 it just had to be done!

But yes to the hot rod thing, it's looking more and more like it with this mega engine!

Anyway I has red engine paint so I'm going to do the timing cover :D

Been watching this thread for ages with mixed emotions. very confusing:confused:

interested ..... so are you making the chassis from scratch or is some one else

Thinking of doing similar in future so is it ok to make your own chassis and how does this apply to dvla/insurance.

p.s. I would love to see this build in the flesh... any estimates on when it will be done??

Build is a long way off now that I'm doing a new chassis so its all right. My chassis has been welded up with pigeon **** by the last owner so I really don't trust it with a 454 big block up front! I'd like it done by summer tbh, supercharger wont go on until next year but I have a Dana 80 axle on the way to me (the rear one)

This is in order to handle the stupid power of the big block

thanks for that info,,

Don't want seem like i'm trolling like erm.... you know who

Just seriously interested on chassis changes as I have read a lot of conflicting views and may need to know for a future purchase.;)

I wish you the best of luck on this build only because I am jealous.

one day..lol

So if not for the lakes will it be ready for Landyzone 10th..???

Do you know how heavy a dana 80 is?

I am well aware but given that the engine wont give a **** about how heavy it is I don't care. They're about 325kg built up but thats also unsprung weight

Plus it was £175 and brand new ex mod stock

Front end will get a Dana 70 when I can afford one

haha its fine, don't mind constructive questions

Not going to the 10th either as I have exams that week but it'll find its way onto the road eventually. Piston is getting dropped off at my local guy so he can order me some rings (real steel are far too pricey) then I'll also get him to order me some new head bolts and red molly past so I can assemble the engine!

Now I'd just like to point out that I'll be fitting a 109 set of springs to cope with the weight given that this engine as a bare block weighs more than my Cadillac engine did

How do I know this ?

Well the caddy I could wrestle about and lift onto its back in the disco.......this one I cant even budge :( and thats a bare block, no crank, no pistons just block and heads

sorry mate another question,

all the attention to the engine and chassis is the bodywork going to get a respray it must so justly deserve and if so will it be hot rod biased
I am hoping so

daz

Body is getting rat rodded, building the roof out of steel then rusting it before adding lacquer :)

Body will be matte black and the interior will be a mix of ally and probably leather once I get round to it

Integrating the roof and roll cage into one so the sides will still remove but there'll always be a top on it incase of showers

It's gonna look mint in black and red btw ;) this is the timing case after its first coat, cooked it in the oven after :p probably another coat or two and it'll really be popping against the matte black block :D
