Now I does has a confession to make
![Eek! :eek: :eek:](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
partly because it also proves the point that Thor knows nothing about everything engine related he says he does,
So the Caddy 429 was the original engine that I was going to drop in here and although its a very similar size to the one that is in there it isn't the 429......upon some research I found the 429 was a little finicky to machine i.e. it has a hollow cast crank to keep weight down meaning its a bit of an arse to machine.
This means it is staying put for now and being mated up to an auto box to go into a 109 at a later date along with another spare 429 that may go into something ridiculous, both of these are now rebuilt and ready to go and my mate is thinking about taking one of them back
However for the observant reader they would have noticed this!
Lets begin;
The engine is now black for a start, the engine mounts in the pics have moved from front to central, the oil filter is now at the rear instead of the front passenger side by the timing cover, the water pump is now a different shape as well as a serpentine set up, the flywheel only has one set of bolts going through it, the crank has a protruding lip for the spigot bush, the heads are now central bolt rockers instead of perimeter and probably most importantly the Cadillac writing has mysteriously vanished!
The dizzy has somehow moved from the front of the timing cover to the rear of the block by the bulkhead
Oh and lets not forget the fact that the engine when I showed the rear of it had gone from having a flat top to a Chevy point along with the SM420 not having a spacer plate between it to adapt it to the block.
Now there is a reason for this even with the now complete and rebuilt 429 engines the drilling of the crank creates a major weak spot and out of a blown 383 I get more torque than the 429, more BHP and everything is a lot cheaper parts wise now!
Had Thor known about the engines he was proclaiming to know about then he would have spotted these less than subtle features!
Now Thor, if you want to play nice for real I'll respond in a civil manner from now on and answer properly
