Woop no offence taken! We're all in this for banter. And if you hate the trailer no probs please say so I'm more than open to others opinions an considerations. To not be so would be foolish IMO.
A university lecturer once said to me: I'm the highest paid lecturer and am considered god in this place, what do I Know?? Bugger all all I know is what I've read from other people's finding and process them.
If your enjoying your build then fair do's. seemed to me you want it done but give yourself more grief. That I don't understand but if your enjoying it fair do's
My only worry is that the more you go non standard ( ie tried and tested) the more expense and laid up time. I know you were didled on the gearbox but i would still go back to that as the root of most of your issues.
I like the fact you have sourced jaguar bits as there is certainly some crossover of parts development there. Given that you have pretty much done it alone you have to be commended for not just stripping it and selling off.
Given time, effort and a decent workspace i would have considered a jag v8 and at least marry the running gear throughout. Parts would be off the shelf.
My personal gripe with yours is simply the front end looking a bit bland. I'd think with lights even fake ones I.e. Just the lenses it'd made it look a lot nicer instead of the blacked out plates unless I've been looking at old or the wrong pictures in which case I take
I like the modification side and making things work. Now that the box is moved forward I'm putting in the old crossmember again so the chassis is in modified apart from rock slider brackets
I do want it done but the rest is coming together nicely now, front end should be sorted this week if I can get my slam panel plasma cut today
Have to agree with trax on several fronts
An axle build is great for an offroad toy comp motor I have a sals here in weighing in but thinking it could be an axle build. Myself would
Not consider doing it unless it was a bullet proof monster like 35 or 40 spline but each to their own.
I don't see any reason to pressure yourself into making it for road use tho personally.
as far as i can see, doc's just having fun pushing/testing his knowledge and experience while he's rebuilding. nothing wrong with that!
if he changes his mind later, well then that's why grinders were invented
I think the difference is.. a (sorry) young'un wanting to try all he has learnt and someone who's done it before and thinks of it as a job to get out of the way.
Doc, I'm impressed with your current level of motivation.. keep it up!
Have to agree with trax on several fronts having met doc
1. Whilst he's doing his course etc its a good way to test his skills and make mistakes and rectify them and learn from them.
2. Whilst he is concentrating on that he isn't taking anything else apart and leaving it unfinished!
I suspect doc would have a dozen unfinished projects given the chance lol.
