Wow, hope it all fits ok,
Welding galv needs a respirator as the fumes are super toxic, but the galv will protect un-galvanised metal for an inch or so around itself. So if you have to move stuff about a bit it will still get the benefit.
I just bought a pipe/drain cleaner attachment for my karcher K5 pressure washer. Got it mostly to blast out the insides of the chassis. It has four backward facing jets which pull the narrow hose into the pipe/chassis.
There are some pics of the series 3 LWB chassis and a key with the measurements, so you can check when it comes back. Sorry had my daughter staying and two other cars to service for their mot's, so missed this.[

These are from my Haynes manual for the Series II, IIA & III 4-cyl 1958 to 1985 petrol and Diesel, so should be correct for your 4 pot.

Thanks It should be back tomorrow all nice and shiny, Hope they are in the right place,

How come your O/S bulkhead outrigger has the angle iron support going to the rear ?
Should they not both go forward ?.
But it all looks very shiny and nice :)
Also are your mounts ok ?

Well I had a feeling this would come back to bite me, been on ages trying to get the engine and box lined up but its not going right.
Dont know what hes done but the front is not lining up right. it is to low and slightly to the left, got both gear box mounts in and the front passenger side but driver side wont drop in as you can see in pic.
I did take it out and dropped the other side in but it was worse.
Was hoping that a couple of spacers would sort this but think the mounts are to far out for that. will take better pics tomorrow of both sides.
Any Ideas ??

I would remove the rubber mount blocks and support the engine using a trolley jack and hoist to the perfect position.
Then you can take measurements of where the mounts need to be and, remove the engine and remake the mounts for a perfect fit.
Annoying, but it needs to be resting comfortably.
You can touch up with some zinc paint, it shouldn't be very noticeable and soon a distant memory as your build progresses.
Nice and shiny though, good luck

Thanks Mate , yes very annoying  just wished I could of checked before galvanising.
My mates not keen on welding Galvanised stuff, we only have a small mig welder working of generator dont have electric up my yard to power bigger welder.

Did you by any chance remove the gearbox mounts because if I remember correctly the wedges are handed side to side
Just thinking if you have swapped them over by accident maybe it could mess up the front settings?

Yes I did Mate, I am sure they are back on the correct side but will double check.

Why not take the bracket off the engine and slot the bracket to the right position lot simpler than alterring chassis bracket.

The mounting is bolted to a bracket on your engine which has two bolts holding it to the engine block either them holes on the bracket or the one the bobbin goes in could be slotted.

Thanks Mate been up staring at it after what you said and think it could just work if I put some spacers or something on drivers side bracket. will post more pics up later to show you what I mean.

Right will / could this work ?
First pic is passenger side, it needs to go in direction of arrow where there is movement but wont budge as drivers side is right at edge stopping it,
Second pic is drivers side and also needs to go same way.
Now Im thinking if I remove the bolts circled and put spacers in them to move bracket out it should move it over.
Not sure about the height though as it needs to come up slightley too.
Or am I mad,
Forgot to say Friday when I thought Id tightened hoist up enough the engine dropped a few inches and broke my finger and sliced the end off, was 8 hours in A and E Friday night then back most of Saturday getting it stitched back on so Im just about one handed at the moment and on my own but wont give in.
